Knives, swords, bayos from eBay.UK no more!

I used to enjoy getting some of my bayonet collection from eBay.UK but no more. As of March 10th eBay.UK prohibits the sale of knives unless they are used for eating! Even kitchen knives are banned. Just when you thought the UK couldn't be more insane! I'm wondering how long before eBay USA follows this policy.

eBay prohibits members from listing knives on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie with one exception:

Cutlery: this includes sets of kitchen cutlery (knives, forks, spoons) that contain knives used for eating, but does not include sharp kitchen knives such as those found in knife blocks, such as paring knives.

Members should be aware when listing knives on eBay that it is an offence to market a knife in a way which indicates or suggests that it is suitable for combat, or is likely to encourage violent behaviour involving the use of the knife as a weapon. It is also an offence to sell knives to a person who is under the age of 18.

You know, reading eBay.UK's statement makes me realize how much my Spyderco collection calls out to me to go stab someone. They're encouraging "violent behaviour" in me! :banghead: Gee...I guess I should start collecting something more innocent, like stamps...or Beanie Babies.

But wait a minute...I'm a human being with self control, reason, and intellect. Therefore, I know that a knife is an inanimate object that can do nothing by itself. It is I that commit the act, not the piece of steel. Therefore, as a member of society, I know that stabbing people is generally frowned upon by said society, which places a penalty upon such behavior. Therefore, I will excercise my reason and intellect. Thus, I arrive upon the conclusion that my remaining a member of society depends upon correct usage of my free will. Hence, a bowling ball is no different from a machete; could I not club a person to death with a bowling ball? Maybe bowling balls should be banned from eBay. Nah...I'll simply excercise that little thing called personal responsibility: if I club someone with a bowling ball (excluding personal defense), I am responsible for my actions, and will therefore pay the penalty. Funny how that works...

The tragic thing about it is the powers that be over there seem to have brainwashed the citizenry as well. The most insane liberal hacks I get on another board when the topic turns to guns are from the UK! Mainly because they seem to show very one sided false "facts" in their support of ultimate gun control. Over in the UK they have "ALL encompassing control" But appearently don't realize it yet.

I also read a story that the London Armed Police had to be called to a shooting, the police officers, some version of SWAT had FN FALS and all had one round each....they had limited ammo so long the police didn't even have more than one round each!

The policy change was prompted by a story run on on of the British news networks, possibly BBC (I forget which one). They did an investigative journalism piece on the availability of knives, and suggested that Britons could easily acquire illegal knives via eBay. The reporter ordered a half dozen tactical knives (at least some of which were Assissted Openers) and claimed they were illegal flick knives (their word for switch blades). Considering the British attitude towards knives right now, the piece obviously would touch a nerve with viewers. So, ebay immediately responded and cut off knife sales in the uK and Ireland to save face. Nothing more than a public relations move. It's like after that US news company ran the story about Cho buying mags on eBay. They had no choice but to cull a lot of gun stuff in order to protect their image. They would have been portrayed as (even more) complicit if they did not do something.
