Howdy. I have a chance to pick up an Interarms Whitworth in 7mm RM in a private sale. He said it was new in 1987. I haven't seen the thing yet so cannot offer more info. What can anyone tell me? Thanks.

Thats a Czech Mauser action with a British barrel... they are supoposed to be pretty solid. Made for export to the US.

These used to be the best buy in a new mauser. They are a little rough out of the box but they clean up really nice and a lot were used as custom gun projects.

If my memory serves me correctly they were made in Yugoslavia before it self distructed, and thats when they quit making ( or at least importing them ).

They are not a CZ version at all, the Czech mauser of those years was was the BRNO, which are very scarce as there were very few imported, as Czechoslavakia was behind the iron curtain and there were very strick import restrictions on them.

I had one of these in .375 H&H and thought it was a quality rifle for the price. IMO it had better workmanship than the CZ rifles I've seen lately.
