I'm not wanting to start a 500/870 thread. What I need to know is how well the Knoxx stock works with both guns in various regards.

Frankly I'm leaning hard to the 500 simply because my friend has one and it's much lighter than the 870...and practically racks itself. Or even the Maverick since I'm a cheapskate with guns.

I installed the COPstock on my 500. Works quite well!
You do need a pretty long flat blade screw driver to remove the original stock, though

I've got a SpecOps on my 590SP and it fits perfectly. It was really easy to install (you do need the right wrench). It is ugly as sin but shoots like a dream. A great product.

Ditto, I have a CopStock on a 590. The forearm release button is somewhat blocked by the hinge mechanism on the folding stock, but still operable (you just have to learn a different way to do it). Compared the recoil reduction to that of a buddy's identical gun with a stock... stock, and it actually works.

I like Ugly as Sin. My shotgun is the definition of Ugly as Sin: It's got a CopStock, the heat shield, a Tasco Optima originally designed for a Glock on top (that was fun), a polychoke, and I have a bayonet for it.

It really annoys the guys at the skeet range.

my 500

I have a 500, and have a terrible time getting to my action release tab with it on, so much I had to remove the Knoxx stock. I emailed knoxx about it, and they said that's one of the downsides to the Mossberg, is that it's tough to get to it with a pistol grip.

Basically I would have to say go for the 870 because the action release is not interfered with. If anyone has any ideas on how i can use the action release, or never use it please post.

That's what I was afraid of. If the release button is blocked, I dunno.

My friend has a first generation CopStock. It sold me on the product, but damn it can sure tear up your thumb knuckle! Good thing they fixed that little glitch.

It's not blocked, but you do need to move your hand somewhat.

How about the safeties? E.g. the tang safety on the 500 works wonderfully with a standard stock but is (IMO) horrible with the knoxx pistol grip (at least the copstock grip).... never tried the 870, how does it do?

I put the SpecOps stock on a Mossberg 590 (50668). I like it a lot. Knoxx was claiming something goofy like a 90-95% reduction in felt recoil. I think it's more like 50%, but that's enough. It kicked like a mule before the SpecOps, and now it only kicks like a pony. :)

Check out the cool videos on the Knoxx site.

I've been considering the Knoxx BreachersGrip to convert my 590 into something like a recoil reducing Cruiser pistol grip model.

Lucky> His and hers?

Haha, ya. But we always mix 'em up 'cause we're too lazy to mark 'em.
