Howdy y'all,

Who here carries a kubaton or similar pocket stick? If so, what do you carry? I know Mini Mags are popular for this purpose. Anyway, I'm weighing my options, as I'm in the market for one.

I'm actually considering cutting down a ''sharpening'' steel to five inches, or so, and putting on a keychain. The diameter is almost perfect, the end would already be tapered a bit, plus, I'd have a means of touching up my EDC knives without having to carry an actual sharpener.

What are y'all's thoughts?

Thanks!

P.S. If you've answered on .us, there's no need to answer here, as well. :)

Inova X1 flashlight.

It is only 4" long but with a thumb-over-tailcap hold enough of the body sticks out to work for ice pick style strikes.Yes my hands are on the small side. It won't work for guys with big mitts.

Small enough for almost un-noticeable pocket carry.

Be very carefull in some places, carrying a weaon item that does not have a more innocent real world aplication. It may work in the heat of the moment, but in the Momday morning quarterbacking done in a well lighted court room, things can look very different. It's just my opinion, but any kuboton type of tool should be a workable flashight, pen, carpenters pencil, or even tire pressure gauge. It won't leave a politicaly aspirering deputy DA much to grasp at.

I don't know how to use a kubotan, but have always wanted to learn. It strikes me that the "tactical" pens of today would fill that role quite nicely and still be defensible should the need arise.

Here is one brand. The pen attachment is a quite pricey. I usually have other items on my person that would work in the unlikely event I didn't have my ccw on me.

My favorite Kubatons are made by Alpha Innovations. The also make a great Stylus made out of the same polymer material. The started to do the stylus be cause "Kubatons" are prohibited on aircraft.

Things the size of Kubatons are all over and I like to have them sprinkled like fairy dust all over, in my pockets, in the car, in the house. I carry the SF L2 specifically because it was the closest to the size of a typical Kubaton.

The summer while at Davi's Tip of the Blade I did a combat pen course everyday.

They are a formidable tool in the hands of someone with the knowledge and intent to use them. And that does not mean BS joint locks.

I actually had a CT Judicial Marshal "hold on to " my mini-maglite,which was attached to my keys, at the courthouse.

Had to get copies of my divorce decree at the clerks office. So I dumped it into the bin at the metal detector. She looked at me,smiled and winked as she said "I know what that is for" :uhoh:. Got a claim ticket for it and picked it up on the way out.I kept my key's though.

I don't know if my smaller Inova would squeak by .

I'm really liking the Streamlight Baton Light. Problem is, I can't seem to find one. Does anyone have any leads?

Yea the Baton lite is awesome, i usally carry one with a mini maglight removable pocket clip on it.
There seems to be some stores that still have them like, http://www.streamflashlights.com/streamlight/batonlite.html
