Awhile back I sent a scope to Pentax that had a problem with fogging and they sent me a Gamekeeper replacement for a total replacement cost of $19.99. The replacement scope lasted exactly 2 trips to the range before it malfunctioned. I called Pentax and they said send it back with a note explaining what was wrong with the scope and let them know that the replacement fee should be waved since the new scope was less than a month old. I did this and they sent me a upgraded "power zoom" scope to replace the one that went bad. After some discussion here and humoring some of the fellows at the range (no I didn't mount it, just showed it to them) I decided this was definitely not a scope I would want for hunting purposes. I called Pentax again and they e-mailed me a UPS call tag and sent me yet another scope which arrived this week. This time they sent me one of the newer 5X Gameseekers. I haven't decided whether or not to bother mounting this scope yet but wanted to say that I was very pleased with the customer service I received from this company.

I wish I could say the same for Bushnell. My first scope was a Bushnell Scopechief that helped be fill 3 bull moose tags. I had sent another scope back to Bushnell back in June and was notified around the 5th of July that this scope didn't qualify for their "lifetime" warranty due to the eye tube being bent. They did offer to replace the scope with a Banner for $75. I told the fellow I didn't send the scope back for replacement, I just wanted them to fix the focusing adjustment dial (whatever that part is called) and one of the plastic turret screws that had broken and been replaced by a temporary metal screw. Anyhow, I told the fellow to just send my scope back if they couldn't fix it cause I could get their replacement offer on e-bay for $10 less than what they were trying to sell me one and they could count on me to never purchase another Bushnell scope. I sure hope if anyone has problems with a Bushnell scope that they don't have to deal with the same idiot that e-mailed me. I called them today and after being put on hold for about 30 minutes was told that my scope had been replaced (or at least that was what their records showed). I asked the lady in customer service how this could be as I instructed the fellow from the repair center to return my scope as it was working perfectly well (except for the 2 minor items I ask them to fix). She said her supervisor had stepped out but she would check with him when he came back and she would find out what had happened to my scope. She called me back about 30 minutes later and told me that my scope was being sent back and it was already packaged so they couldn't look at it to see if the eye tube was bent in shipping or if it was bent before it was shipped (huh?). Anyhow, it has now taken them 15 days for them to pack up my scope for the trip home and I got all of this and they only charged me a $10.00 shipping and handling fee. This is why they will never get another dime from me. Sorry for the long rant!

Bushnell does not support gun rights

I also will not purchase from Bushnell, I live near their Headquarters in Overland Park, KS and enjoyed browsing there occasionally until Kansas passed their concealed carry; Bushnell posted to prevent concealed carry on their premises. I definitely will not purchase firearms related product from a company that does not support my rights.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. The lady I spoke to in customer service was just as nice as she could be until she called back and had to tell me that they in fact didn't replace the scope and that it was already shipped so they couldn't verify that it was bent. I could really care less about the POS scope (it is probably close to 20 years old), it is the way I was jerked around that upset me. All they had to do was tell me they didn't have parts for this scope any longer and I wouldn't have wasted their or my time. I had also asked them to return the scope over 2 weeks ago and I still don't know if it has been returned or just sitting in a box waiting to be returned. I will give them a directions to this post just in case they would like to present their side of the story. Thanks for the information about them not allowing concealed carry. Another good reason to stick with Nikon and Burris.

So if this is correct then they still haven't returned my scope.

Well, all I know is that when I buy cheap stuff, I expect cheap results. Sure, there are deals to be made on nice stuff, but the general rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. Maybe you might consider going to a nicer brand of scope that offers amazing customer service and a better product to boot. There are plenty out there. Leupold, Burris, Zweis, etc. Some good cheaper ones are Vortex. Maybe look into those.

This has nothing to do with how much this scope cost. I may not have any thousand dollar scopes, but I have plenty Leuopolds, Nikon and Burris scopes. I also have a few NCStar scopes on my Swiss K-31s. This scope worked just fine for what it was being used for (short range deer hunting in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia). My gripe is the poor customer service I received from this company over a scope that may have cost them maybe $10 in China to have built. All I asked them to do was return the scope back on the 5th of July and they have yet to do this. Had they done this, I would have had nothing to bitch about. I still don't believe the scope was bent when I shipped it to them but I honestly didn't check this before shipping because I wasn't looking for a replacement scope, just a screw and a possible fix of the adjustment dial. I took this scope off an old Remington 788 in .243 and it worked just fine before I shipped it to them. The lady I spoke with in customer service told me that it may have been damaged in shipment. Wouldn't you think they would have told me this had happened? Its just the older I get, the less tolerant I am of companies like this.

Here is what I received just a few minutes ago from their customer service department when I mentioned they could find this posting here.

"I see the request for this to be returned and I apologize for the inconvenience. I have also requested that this return be expedited. Again I apologize for your inconvenience.

Please do not reply to this message.

Bushnell Customer Service"

At least I got a generic apology.
