Kukri Knife..real or fake?

rust collector

Typically once a year I will clean it up and polish the blade and brass fittings with Flitz. The handle appears to be made of wood painted black. Still have the leather sheath and the two little knives that go with it.
Next time after you clean, finish the cleaning by removing the oil & cleaning compound. Then apply paste wax to the entire knife. See if it lasts longer. My collector knives get Renaissance wax.

The challenge is to hit all the nooks and crannies with the rust preventative of your choice. My old kukri, which was probably a $17 Atlanta Cutlery special, wasn't used often so got a coat of whatever grease was handy. It was sold at a gun show and replaced by a Kershaw camp 10 and a CRKT Halfachance. Lower maintenance, but not near as much character.

If it was a traditional Kukri it would also include a Karda to be used as a utility knife and the Chakmak which is used as a sharpening tool. I would not mind owning yours.
