Mrs. Doc just completed the second ladies class
at TR. She says it was awesome. Won't say much
else since it's a 'girls thing.' But Mrs. Jawbreaker
told me plenty:

lots of good shooting, lots of learning
lots of female bonding, lots of beaming instructors
lots of DEADLY SERIOUS women shooters

i think my wife likes the charger deck as much as me now!

here's some of the photos

I bet the gals never missed a Plan C response

Actually, Bill McClennen came up behind Mrs. Doc on Red Range
and said something like, "He's a child molester!"
To which Mrs. Doc responded by emptying the rest of that magazine
into the, er, pelvis...

El T:
nope, no huntin'
just feminine shootin'
not even the metal bison,
just vicious life threatening ARMED CARDBOARD!

FYI, i will be in indy tonight and tomorrow
(working of course!)
call my cell if you are bored

I am so proud of my wife!

My wife of 15 years and the mother of our three kids is an amazing woman. Not only that she puts up with me. But she’s always full of pleasant surprises…
She had never been to a range, let alone pulled the trigger of a firearm. Not that she does not support the 2nd or has ever given me grief concerning my collection. She just wasn’t interested.
But after 9/11 something started to change. She started to ask how she could defend herself and the kids during an emergency when I am out of town. And then last fall she read Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose, about the Lewis & Clark Expedition. She realized that the most important thing Lewis had along for the entire 3-year expedition into the American Wild was his rifle.
And that did it:
“I want to learn to shoot. Can you teach me?â€
I took a deep breath to avoid screaming out loud of joy and replied:
“Well, do you want to learn how to operate a weapon or do you really want to learn how to shoot?
“I want to be able to defend myself and the kids and be able to shoot a deer for food.â€
“In that case you really have to learn how to shoot properly and you will have to go to a school to learn it.â€
She than asked:
“You mean I have to go to the school in Texas you have been to before?â€
“Yes, dear. You’ll have to go Thunder Ranch.â€
And she replied: “OK, sign me upâ€
That was the end of the discussion.
So last November my wife took Urban Rife at Thunder Ranch.
I am so proud of her!

friz:

yeehaw!

when i first went to Thunder Ranch i asked Clint,
"How do I get my wife to come down here?"
He told me, "You don't. She either comes on her own,
or not at all."

When Mrs. Doc was at Defensive Handgun 2
(after the men got over being intimidated of her)
one asked, "Say, how do I get MY wife to come down here?"
My wife replied, "You don't. She either comes on her own,
or not al all."

Why don't you join us for HIT in June?

doc

Hi Doc,
Mrs. Friz speaking - we'd love to join you for HIT in June! However, we haven't been able to scare up a babysitter so that we both could go. Right now Friz is working on me to take Urban Rifle again in Nov. Unfortunately, vacation days are limited. But: Friz is heading for TR next week (defensive revolver) while I get to play single working mom...
But, there's always T-Ranch in Oregon next year.
I actually wrote a piece about learning to shoot at TR, if you all are interested, I'll scare it up and have Friz post it.
Regards,
Friz's wife

PS: Are you friends with El Tejon? He and Friz took defensive shotgun together at TR a few years ago.

Mrs. Friz:

you know we have twins who are 5 years old?
we have the same babysitter issues!
maybe we could con Louis into watching them all
while we shoot...

how about UR 2 in September? Mrs. Doc & I will be there then, too.

glad to hear you are plugging TR in the gun rags!
i would be very interested to read your piece
(you can PM or email me direct and I will forward my
contact info) I am sure there will be no shortage of
students at TR-O after they move.

As a matter of fact, Mrs. Doc and I are both friends with El Tejon;
we were all together for General Purpose Rifle last year. He got
to meet our other friends Jawbreaker and Mrs. Jawbreaker
(aka 'Church Lady') when we were there. We all went to Red's
in Austin and out for BBQ (tho i think El T had other dinner plans...)

Are you guys local to El T? I am in Indy as I write, to return to DTW
early in the AM.

Thanks for your reply, Doc.
We are sort of local to El T, live in the city where he went to grad school. I'm sorry but I'm not sure I know what DTW means?
September unfortunately won't work for us - work schedule is too heavy at that time, plus school starts. With five year old twins you're lucky to be able to attend TR as a twosome!
My piece about TR isn't published yet, but I'd be happy to share. I'm not so sure it would work in the regular gun mags as it's more about me being scared and clueless. For me to round that corner of not only learning how to shoot but shooting about 800 rounds and surviving the Terminator goes to show what an amazing place TR is. (For clarification, I had a Marlin lever action and I love it now!)
Contact info is [email protected]
Regards,
Mrs. Friz
