is there any particular reason they call the S&W model 60 the Lady Smith??
I was looking at buying one, the oversized wood grips are nice and it seems no different than a regular model 60. I was just wondering if anyone knew why it was called that

Rumor has it that they have a slightly lighter DA trigger pull.
Least that is what S&W advertising used to say.

I haven't noticed too much difference myself.

I went through the Lady Smith thing about a year ago. I had heard that there were differences in the LS and the standard model.
After a bunch of time, I found out that the only difference is the LS markings on the frame, and the nice grips and the case that it comes in (the older models had a nice case that they came with).
That is all the difference in them.
100.00 to 125.00 difference in price.

Interesting how much writing Lady Smith costs. :neener:

Glad to hear its the same as the 60. I've been thinking about getting my wife a 60....;)......really its for her.

The prob is no range in the San Diego area has one to rent. (Many ranges don't rent ANY J frames. :uhoh:) The one range we have been going to due to its selection of rentals that will fit my wifes hand does have a lady smith, so that will do I guess.

It is just fancy wood grips, a "frosted" appearance to the stainless steel's finish and the inscription.

I have a LadySmith automatic myself, just like Miss Parker's. :neener:

Saw a funny scene in a store the other day. Couple is buying a gun for Her. Salesman hands over 637 Lady Smith. She points the gun into salesman chest, pulls trigger 2-3 times and says "It's really cute!". Salesman "Hmm... Mam, we don't say 'cute' about guns, Mam". I think they bought it.

So, here's the answer - ladies find it cute.
