Anyone live in Washington catch the Kiro 7 news on TV?

http://www.kirotv.com/news/9844012/detail.html

They just showed video on this story and a brief pan of the rifles recovered from a Lakewood motel. They are very easily identified even though they didn't give the names.

A pair of AMP Technical DSR-1 semi-auto sniper rifles in .308 (http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn38-e.htm) and an EDM Windrunner in unknown caliber, possible .338 Lapua judging from size compared to the other two (http://www.edmarms.com/products/m98.htm). I know they're easily valued at or over 30k with optics and they were just left under a bed?

The story is VERY sketchy and doesn't make sense, but basically the housekeeper found some gun cases and decided to take a peek. :barf: It happened to belong to some felon so I suppose in their eyes, rummaging through other peoples' belongings is justified

The guy is claimed to be a felon from Wisconsin. I don't know what kind of felon buys unobtainium $10k rifles and another $5-10k rifle. They showed some panning of the rifles and "evil clips" such as loading the magazines on the DSR-1's, and field stripping the EDM Arms rifle.

The news had a field day ranting about how expensive, powerful, and evil these rifles were...then added a "private parties can buy them since they are semi-auto" to leave it up to the imagination of the viewers but both are box-mag bolt action rifles.

I didn't even think you could even buy DSR-1's in America even if you HAD $10k to burn.

Are ya catching my drift here. They are all Chicken Littles.

I went away when they began interviewing 3-5 year olds about the 911 crises......:uhoh:

Someone go check Knights closet for some missing rifles, he's the only one that could afford that stuff. Good Grief!!!

Umm, yeah, sorry, I didnt want to get hit with late check-out fees, so I left a few toys behind in my haste to get on the road. I'll pay COD fees.

Lakewood is not too far from Ft. Lewis, a major US Army installation. Coincidence.....maybe....maybe not.

I think these guns may have been stolen from a member of a gun club I belong to. He sent an email a few days ago alerting the membership to the theft.

Keep us posted, Unisaw, if you please, about the possible recovery of stolen guns.

Since Lakewood is essentially out the main gate of Fort Lewis, maybe there was a little OOPS in a Delta Force training exercise. Hide in the local motels until it is time to take out the commanders of the enemy air force, for which McChord AFB is quite handy :D

Cesium-

I'm confused by your post. First you say the AMP is semi-auto, then you state it's bolt action.
:what:

I think he just made a small mistake, the DSR-1 is bolt-action rifle, accurate and very expensive. We have couple here in the hands of commandoes.

How come I never find anything cool.

All I find under hotel beds are condom wrappers and loose change.:scrutiny: :scrutiny:

Posted as well on a certain AR forum last night. Someone beat me to it there and posted at the WA section where someone responded having had these stolen earlier on September 10th. Snippets from two members:

A board member saw the post and wondered if they may be guns that were stolen on Sept 10 and provided the sotlen gun information and a link to world.guns for photos

The OP said "YES!!!!!!

Those are exactly what they looked like.", from what he saw on the news broadcast and called the contact number provided with the stolen gun alert.

The owner has been in contact with the ATF and the local PD, they are indeed his guns.

I made Kiro 7 News.

According to Kiro 7 an anonymous tipster notified Kiro 7 that the owner of the rifles had been notified and has contacted the Lakewood Police to reclaim their rifles.

The anonymous tipster is a member of a Gun Website where the missing weapons were posted.

The Internet is faster than the police :D

That's one lucky guy! I would be completely heartbroken and depressed if I had firearms worth that much and they were stolen one day. I bet the thief had no idea what he stole and it's value...otherwise he wouldn't leave it in a motel and leave it like that!
