I saw these advertised in CDNN's flier. I've never heard of them, and their website doesn't really tell me much..... :scrutiny:

Good? Bad? Ugly??????

The floor's open guys!

Thanks!

Lanber are a cheaper shotgun over here, but pretty well thought of and reliable.

Not heard any bad things about them to be honest. :)

The Lanber is probably one of the most underated/under appreciated shotguns out there. You can't beat them for the money.

I've been to a couple of shooting schools in the UK that use Lanbers. The frequency of repair is on par with the entry-level Berettas they were using before.

I've owned a Lanber model 2087 since march of 03. It has been a great gun IMHO. The fit and finish are in a class way above its then $450 dollar price tag. They have chrome lined chambers & barrels, single selective trigger, auto ejectors, and five choke tubes. What impressed me the most, as a machinist, was the metal fit and finish appears second to none. It is one of the smoothest opening/closing O/U's I've ever shot. the barrels are well regulated to point of aim also, something not always found in doubles with a cheaper pricetag. I've got probably less than 7K rounds down the barrels but so far no problems whatsoever. :)

Range where I was on the board used some for rentals. They worked well. Range rental service is a pretty tough test of a shotgun.:)

They are nice guns, too, as chas08 says.

...Just curious. I saw them on net and thought I'd ask. I used to shoot trap YEARS ago when I was in my early 20's with my 870 Express and I'd like to get back into it. I'd like to go with an O/U this time and convert the 870 to HD.

Based on my Wish/Want list :) CDNN's price seemed appealing.

I just read a writeup in the August Sporting Clays magazine about the Lanber 2097 Sporting Lux written by Nick Sisley. The writeup sounded pretty good.

Now before anyone jumps in and says that ALL writeups in gun magazines sound good, let me say that I'm perfectly aware of that. However, if you read carefully what is said and what isn't said, you can sometimes tell the difference between a fluff piece and a serious piece of writing. I tend to think Sisley was more serious in this piece.

Anyhow, even though I've never owned or even shot a Lanber, if my maximum for a new O/U was in the $700 to $900 range, I'd take a hard look at the Lanber. I can't think of any O/U cheaper than that that I'd even consider....... but then, that's just MY opinion.

Well I did a little more surfing, and saw Remington has their Spartan 'Sporting', and Stoeger has their Condor 'Competition' models. I figure these would be about the same price range. The Stoeger has an adjustable comb as standard. Decisions...decsions.

I've had one since 1987, shot god knows how many rounds thru it and aside from one broken firing pin and a malfunctioning safety catch have never had a problem with it. Typical Spanish "get what you pay for" shotgun. they're not the prettiest gun on the rack, but they do the job. Good learners gun.

A buddy of mine just bought one from CDNN for ~$595.00, more or less. Very nice looking shotgun. I have shot it a bit, and it points and swings well. It is a lot of gun for the money.

It is a far nice gun than the Remington Spartan or the Stoeger.

Were I in the market I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.
