LAR-8 Troy quad rail help

Just recieved my Troy Industries 350 dollar free float quad rail for my Rock River Arms LAR-8 in 308. The damn thing don't fit! I followed the directions to a "T" including cutting my D ring off thus rendering my rifle incapable of reinstalling the normal handguards. The Troy is just to smal it doesn't wrap around the barrel nut so I cannot tighten the bolts. I screwed up even further by removeing some material on the rail to try and make it fit. I am sure I cannot return my 350 dollar rail now to buy a 400 dollar Daniel Defense. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong to get this thing to fit?

Just a guess, could have sent you one for an AR15. Also I think the barrel nut on the RRA is different than both Armalite or DPMS.

You are correct on the barrel nut difference but the Troy design just clamps around. I really believe I have the model for the AR 15.
