Large Bladed Weapon

I have to admit to a guilty liking for the Fairbairn Smatchet.

A hefty, 10-inch, double-edged blade originally designed by famous WWII close quarter combat guru William E. Fairbairn. Honestly, though, I would probably feel just as happy with a similarly sized bowie-style knife.

In a way I can, but really most uses of knives for self defense for civilians in the real world involve concealed carry, which isn't really practical with such large fixed blade knives, aside from the fact that there are few places in the US where it would be legal to carry one.
It's nice to see that someone else is a smatchet fan, but given a choice, and a good reason to buy one, I'd go with the one from Scorpion swords. Don't know anything about that company, but their smatchet just looks so nice with that wood on it!
