Does anyone know of a rifle scope that has a large (2.5 to 3 MOA), illuminated dot reticle? Not a "red dot" scope, but a 2-9 or 3-12 variable optic scope?

I'm considering getting a rifle scope with an illuminated reticle, but the dots for the scopes I've seen so far are too small to see easily.

Edited to add: I like the Leupold CM-R2 reticle, but not the price of the scope. I'm looking for something under $500.

At 73 Y.O. my eyes aren’t particularly good but I can see the Firedot in my Leupold quite easily particularly when it’s close to max brightness. At dusk it only needs to be maybe 2 of 10 brightness

As for your actual question, can’t help you there

I just got a Vortex Crossfire II scope 1-4 x 24 and it has an illuminated reticle which is really a Red dot. It is adjustable in brightness. Waiting on the scope mounts to put on my Marlin / Ruger SS Trapper. The Red dot is super easy to see and of course the scope crosshairs help this old timer.

Thats not that large for a "dot" sight, many are much larger.

There are lots of illuminated reticle scopes these days though.

Nightforce might have something you would be interested in. Here are some measurements.

All of it does not light up though, just the center 1.5 moa dot and 10 MOA circle (sorry I couldn't take a better photo).

Yes, but the red dot is too small. I'd be all over it (or Leupold's equivalent) if the dot was 2.5 moa.

This looks promising...I'll investigate.

Edited to add: it appears that this model is discontinued....:(

I too use a Leupold Firedot scope on my hunting rifle and LOVE it! That said, what about a 'CQB'-type reticle, like some of the 1-8X scopes from Primary Arms use?

I'd never heard of Primary Arms. I went to their web site; the array of products is bewilderingly large. It will take me a while to sift through them, but I appreciate the heads up. :)

I personally use the Leupold Firedot.
I own a couple of Leupold scopes and love them...they seem (in my admittedly non-expert opinion) to offer the best quality-to-price ratio.

I'll probably end up with either a Mark 3HD 1.5-4X 20mm SFP PF FireDot or a VX-Freedom 1.5-4X 20MM Pig-Plex. I just bought one of the latter for my Marlin 1894, and while it doesn't have an illuminated reticle, it's a great scope for the money.

By the way, this thread is for a scope for a Remington 760. I bought it on a Gunbroker auction a few years back and got it for a good price, but the scope on it was a piece of junk. "Center Point" brand. When I look through it I see 2 crosshairs instead of one, one offset a little to the 10:30 position. I looked it up on the internet....it's a $42 scope, and not worth even that much. 😣

Well I am going on age 81 and do not wear glasses for shooting, and I see it fine. I suggest you see someone about your eyesight. https://media.mwstatic.com/productdocuments/reticle info/896/vortex_crossfire_ii_v_brite_reticle_details.pdf
I wear tri-focals. I see someone about my eyesight yearly. That's part of the problem. I just don't see well, things up close anyway. I've had to quit using iron sights on a rifle. And even with a scope, it's a struggle to position my head so I'm looking through the right lens on my eyeglasses.

You might try just a pair of non prescription readers. I have some 2.5x I use just when in the shop and those are safety glasses and also for welding, the others I wear just for reading a book when I don't want to use my bifocals.

Try this ... ADDING a DIY 'stick on' aperture to your existing glasses can help you see the sights! I've now taken 1st place at our weekly milsurp offhand shoots (nothing newer than an M1A) for 5 out of the last 6-weeks straight, taking 2nd place on one week.

Things a bloody brick....but reticle wise its pretty close to what you want and optically these guys are sweet.

Pictures of the dot is misleading, its the same size as the outer posts, which might be about what your looking for. Ill grab a picture thru mine later if you like

28.9 ounces! Yikes!

I wear trifocals too but don't use em at the range, I had a pair of single vision safety glasses made with my prescription for reading (up close). I got a copy of my prescription and ordered a pair online from Zenni for $50.

For budget glass, Centerpoint makes a 1-4x32 tactical scope with a dot in a 65 moa circle illuminated etched reticle.
I've had one on my .300bo Ruger Am. Ranch for years, good performance for pocket change and cheap enough I don't worry about dragging it in the woods.
My astigmatism is getting worse and I find magnified optics with illuminated etched reticles are sharoer than red dots and reflexes.
I don't think I've ever seen a magnified scope with a solid 3-5 moa dot.

I just removed a Centerpoint scope off of one of my rifles; it's worthless, there is a double-image of the crosshairs. I will toss it in the trash soon.

How about a Leupold VX3HD 1.5-5X like on my Rem 7600 in 358Win?

Bright dot, wide field of view... I'm leaving the CDS dial in MOA IOT be able to bounce between loads. The dot is daylight bright, while the crosshairs are thing enough for some precision.

Leupold firedot reticle ,the only scope and reticle I hunt with.I standardized all hunting guns(rifles, slugguns, muzzleloaders) same scopes different firearms.Helps with the hunt no fumbling with different scopes.

Yes that red dot could be larger. Wish I had taken a picture of that scope and Skinner mount, I will get one and post.
