Two days ago, while listening to Lars Larson, I heard him discussing (with his guest) the various qualifications, attitudes, and positions of Rudy Giuliani.
I heard the guest say something that sounded an awful lot like "Giuliani is a strict constitutionalist." There was no way to call in where I was, so I fired off an email to Lars.
Imagine my surprise when I got an actual response!
I was pleased he took the time to read what I wrote, and even more pleased that he aired it.

Yesterday, I got this reply.
Gettin' the message out on the air!
I'm kinda tickled. Hat don't fit.

Lars,
I'm listening to your program right now, listening to your guest defend Rudy's position as "conservative and strict constitutionalist."
OR NOT.
Giuliani seeks to disarm the common citizen.
A strict constitutionalist would support the Second Amendment.
He does not.
There are (conservatively) 80 million gun owners in this country.
Rudy doesn't seem to want those votes, or seeks to fool them with rhetoric that promotes "common sense" gun laws. There really is no such thing. Keeping arms out of the hands of the law-abiding does absolutely nothing to disarm the criminals.
Maybe he figures it's smarter to appeal to the Blue State voters.
A politician who feels it's "smarter" to seek the votes of those who feel it's the government's job to take care of them is not standing on principle.
For me, and for many, "gun control" is a make-or-break issue.
The government and police cannot protect the individual citizen, and pretending that they will -- or even can -- is dishonest.
Rudy supports disarming the common man.
That's a bad thing.
