I've installed one before a few years ago and love it. Today I tried to install a new one on another lower and noticed it has a fixed hammer pin. I've watched a few videos, but they either use the older style or completely skip over how they installed the "new" fixed hammer pin type. How do I install this newer one?

This is the picture of the MBT-2S on their website:

The center groove on the pin is engaged by the "j-hook" spring inside the hammer pin hole to retain the pin.

The other (outer) groove on the pin is for when you install it as the trigger pin - one leg of the hammer spring engages the trigger pin groove to retain the trigger pin.

When you install the hammer pin, install it smooth end first. If you install it with the outer groove end first, then the hammer's j-hook will engage the outer groove and the pin will hang up.

Oh okay... yeah I recently installed a Schmidt Tool trigger and it came like that too. Im guessing there is a reason why triggers ship with that pin inserted.

Probably just to minimize the chance it gets lost/thrown away with the packaging by accident.

But the other pin was outside of the sere part of the trigger mechanism. Looking at M1key's picture it's packaged that way from Larue as well.

Enjoy that excellent trigger! I have always wanted to try the additional 6lb spring that LaRue provides with their MBT. I like the crispness of the trigger but I think if it was just a lil heavier but still had a nice crisp break, I might prefer that on a defensive carbine.

If I ever get around to swapping the spring for the heavier one, I'll report back. I may very well be the first to ever do it :D.
