LaRue Trigger

I tried out my new LaRue (ordered 7/12/18, delivered 8/1/18) today. It's a great trigger on a precision AR. And then I learned the downside of a two-stage trigger. After shooting the 2-stage LaRue AR for awhile (which is my only gun with a 2-stage) I picked up my CZ452 and started to take up trigger slack just as I started to aim, forgetting that the CZ452 is single stage and has had a YoDave kit installed which brings the trigger down to just under 2 lbs. Pop...pure luck that I was in the 10 ring, so I added to that group with 4 more shots before moving on.

Ordered 7/25 and delivered last Thursday 8/16. Not really that long of a wait. I had a chance to put it in yesterday and at least dry fire. It is the first time I've replaced a trigger or used anything but a milspec. Very nice, can't wait to actually shoot it. Well worth the $87.

I placed my order 08/11/2018. I just checked. It says "backordered;" However, I ordered another item with it. As such, I cannot say that the trigger is backordered.

Gunny, your box looks like mine except that I didn't receive a catalog. They must think that you are a better candidate for a repeat purchase. I put my MBT in my 300 AAC pistol yesterday. Nice trigger, huge improvement from the mil-spec one that was originally in it.

As soon as I have my 458 SOCOM built, I'll be able to try out the MBT and see how it compares to the Hyper Fire EDT and the AGL A.C.T.

Nice Gunny.

FWIW mine works very well. Quite an improvement over a milspec. I have nothing else to compare to.

I can't speak to the Hyper Fire, but I just got my LaRue, and I'll say that I'm not buying any more ACT triggers. Not because I don't like them, but because the LaRue is a better bargain.

I had either the PSA EPT or ACT triggers in all my AR15s, and a Geissele G2S in my AR-10. I got the LaRue and tried it in my best shooting AR-15. To make a long story short, my AR-10 now has the LaRue, and the AR-15 has a G2S. The .308 gets all the goodies.

It has very little creep, first stage is smooth and the pull is light but not too light. It it leaps and bounds better than the G2S, which was better than the ACT by a wide margin.

I'm looking at the bank account to see if I can get 2 more, or 4, or 8....

LaRue has their MBT trigger on sale for $99.00, if you don't mind waiting a bit to get one. While not on the same level as, say a Geissele they are solid triggers and a damn good buy at $99.
They lack the track record but they are very much on par with Geissele. They even use higher quality materials, the two are significantly different in feel though. Dollar for dollar the MBT is a much better value and a direct competitor to the Geissele.

I installed my MBT in my 458 SOCOM build and really like it.
I just ordered another one to have on hand for a future build. I have found that the fire control group is the most important part of a lower so, why not have good parts on hand.
I also had a weak moment while looking at the Trijicon RMR red dot. I think it was the QD mount that got me. I ordered one along with the MBT.

I just ordered a 2nd one. It will go in my old Bushmaster Dissipator, but the Bushie is also getting a new top end since I just ordered an 18" flat top upper from PSA.

Next step will be to build another lower in order to keep the universe in kilter.

Its just ok overall, IMHO. I admit, it is just a personal preference opinion. Good product for the price and excellent in comparison to a "polished mil-spec" trigger. It does break very cleanly. I think my biggest hangup though is the "user interface" - the wide, flat trigger bow with a pronounced edge. The M4 bow is thinner and more rounded at the edges. I'm not a trigger snob by any means, but I do wish the Larue took a little more CNC time profiling the trigger bow. I'd be willing to pay more for a thinner, rounder bow on an otherwise great trigger.

That might be because a wider profile to the trigger is better. It gives you more surface to place your finger and allows for more even pressure when pulling the trigger. Not everyone likes target or simi target style triggers. You can reshape the trigger to your liking.

C'mon Gunny, even you can admit that it is just a little clunky :) Geissele at least rounds the edges on the Super Dynamic series, but they better for almost 3x the price, right?

I'm one of those guys that like the fatter triggers on my hunting guns.
There are two other triggers that I like better for a duty gun. Those would be the AGL A.C.T ($69.99) and the Hiperfire EDT Heavy Gunner ($99.99) I think you would like them better.

Gunny, you really need your own internet video casting channel with all of your firearms and various build reviews. It would be more interesting than about 99.9 percent of the stuff on the tube or internet. Heck, you even got a massive thread and interest on the THR in cleaning up your firearms storage area.

Here are pics of the different triggers.

Great pix btw.
What is that trigger guard under the LaRue? Pardon my ignorance but I've never seen one like that.
