I just ordered a Laserlyte rear sight for my XD 45. Does anyone own one and what do you think about it? I got it for around $90 bucks total and didn't think that was a bad deal.

I see. Well I'm not much for writing reviews but it looks like one will be in order for this laser sight when I get it. It seems that there's not a lot of experience with them either in this forum or on the web. I've seen their Youtube ads and a couple other Youtube videos but there is just not much info on them out there.

I find them to be a fascinating concept, but keep not ordering one because:
1- expensive
2- they go on guns I point-shoot just fine
3- how do you activate it as reliably as other laser options? (as in, the lasergrip concept means I grab the gun, laser is on, no switch-flipping needed ... the rear sight replacement doesn't do that, or does it now?)
4- batteries (am I wrong? does it take a common battery I can stock up on for cheap?
It is appealing in that it doesn't add bulk to a carry gun, and wouldn't interfere with an existing holster

I don't have their rear sight, but I do have the side mounted laser for my kel tec p3at (also fits ruger lcp) and it works great. Much lower profile than the trigger mounted lasers that are popular with the pocket 380s. I like laserlytes innovation.

Thanks for being the guinea pig. It could've been me. I was thinking of it as more of a training aid since it lists for about the same price as their laser round/snap cap widget for my SR1911. Crimson trace is still a bit pricey for me. I had some one demo a grip laser (don't know brand)on his carry weapon nd it failed to activate. To be specific he whacked/fiddled with it and got it working. In spite of all the advantages a laser site offers, the idea my my depending on a switch spooks me. OTOH, that's probably WHY Crimson Trace commands $275 for a 1911 grip laser.

Got'em on Glocks and XD's they fit the bill nothing to prevent from pistol fitting into holster, but as above my son has had it happen to him by accidently turning on the laser on his leg holster and running down the battery that could have happened to fatmans friend... other than that for the money and that they just replace the rear sights and still have the 3 dot standard backup.... go for it the only down side it that it take 4 batteries and they run about 10.00 each time you replace them.

I got the rear sight for the 709 Slim but I was disappointed. With mine, the little LEDs that are supposed to dimly illuminate the rear channel to simulate a night sight never worked, and while the laser worked as advertised I found that the big round housings for the laser and batteries printed when I was carrying IWB under my shirt. I eventually removed mine.
