Well I called Ruger to find out the status of the otherwise perfect LCP I dropped off in person 4 weeks ago, and the customer service rep said "oh it's actually lying by me here as we speak, all ready to go !!".
All I can say is that it had better work 100% when they return it, because it did when it went in for the drop safe upgrades.
While I don't have the gun yet, I wanted to share what work they have done on it.
Apparently, the chamber had problems seating 2 types of ammo, one was Corbon and the other (I think) was Winchester, so they have reamed the chamber to a greater depth.
Second was the drop safe upgrade - not sure exactly what the upgrade consists of, but it will prevent the gun from firing if dropped (the reason for the recall).
Third was a slide stop upgrade to make it easier to engage.
Fourth was a new redesigned extractor.
They will ship the gun back to me on Monday with a new magazine and a free Ruger ballcap. I guess we'll see what we see.
