Well I called Ruger to find out the status of the otherwise perfect LCP I dropped off in person 4 weeks ago, and the customer service rep said "oh it's actually lying by me here as we speak, all ready to go !!".

All I can say is that it had better work 100% when they return it, because it did when it went in for the drop safe upgrades.

While I don't have the gun yet, I wanted to share what work they have done on it.

Apparently, the chamber had problems seating 2 types of ammo, one was Corbon and the other (I think) was Winchester, so they have reamed the chamber to a greater depth.

Second was the drop safe upgrade - not sure exactly what the upgrade consists of, but it will prevent the gun from firing if dropped (the reason for the recall).

Third was a slide stop upgrade to make it easier to engage.

Fourth was a new redesigned extractor.

They will ship the gun back to me on Monday with a new magazine and a free Ruger ballcap. I guess we'll see what we see.

I filled out the online form for mine, but so far I've not heard back from them to send it in.

some

some have received theirs back on the elsei pea forum and say they are perfect. totally satisfied. And ruger did all the things u stated plus giving you a $25 gift certificate along witht the free magazine and cap.

I can't wait any longer for my pre-paid shipping envelope! It's been several weeks now...maybe it's time I call them. I filled it out online shortly after the recall was made official on their website. I don't see why it's taking this long!

It seriously kills me to look at my LCP every day and not be able to carry it. It has been 100% reliable with ammo, but not when dry firing. Weird, right? When I pull the trigger all the way back when dry firing, sometimes the hammer doesn't drop. I figure if it does it without ammo, it can do it with ammo...So I won't carry it until Ruger gives it some love.

How much does this new slide lock stick out?

Mine has been 100% too and I fear it not being so when it returns. So much so that I am hesitent to send it. :uhoh:

Ruger isn't going to do anything to upset the reliability of your lcp. send it in. If you don't want the new slide lock lever just tell them and they will not install it. I can tell you I have the new one in mine that I replaced over the old one and it is awesome. You don't know it is any different but it is. It doesn't stick out at all. go for it.

They will throat our barrel and polish the feed ramp, both willnot upset your reliability. They will install the new hammer block, again another feature that will not upset your reliability.

Cosmetically you will not see one thing that they did to your lcp. Some of these mods they will do are probably what should have been done from the git go.

I've been interested in them since before they were available but I can't keep up with all the interent buzz on the lcp. As a potential customer I have to ask, are all the upgrades listed above going to be standard on new production?

Thanks
Mark

All I can say is that I have owned 2 P-3ATs and the LCP is in a different league.

I load mine with Santa Barbara 88gr truncated cone open tip FMJ and I feel very comfortable carrying it everywhere with me.

Superb weapon, superb ammo.

thanks CPshooter.

I have not been turned off by the recall thing, the availability thing bites a bit. I only am waiting to be able to actually fondle one before I put cash on the counter.
