When you get some new lead to try out and are not sure of the composition or hardness, how many rounds would you load up to determine if it is going to lead or not? Say for example in 9mm with a 124gr tc bullet with 4.0gr bullseye.
I just got some lead and cast some bullets with it and was wondering how many to try. Loads will vary by .2 from 3.8-4.4 but I am thinking 4.0 might end up working for me. So what, maybe 10 of each and I should know if leading will be a problem or not?

10 - 20 should tell you all you need to know.

4.4 grains Bullseye might be pushing things with a 124 grain LTC though.

According to Lyman #49, 4.2 is a maximum load.

If it was me, I'd try 4.0, and if the gun functions O.K., with no leading, probably call it good.

Actually I meant 3.6-4.2, not sure what happened there. I will load 20 of each and see what happens. Looking for the lightest load that will cycle and still be accurate, but accuracy takes priority for me. This pistol loves WWB and I am trying to convince it that it likes cast, but we don't seem to agree yet. :banghead:
With WWB I can hit 7.62x54 casings at 65'. Not even close with cast yet, bit I will get it eventually. ;)
