One thing that get's my goat everytime: seeing a nice blued 1911 with wood grips riding in a plastic Kydex holster or seeing a USP or Glock in a very nice leather Bianchi. Does anyone agree with me that the souless holsters should go with the soulless guns ?

Put that pretty blue 1911 in a leather IWB holster that has become wet from sweat and wont dry out over night, day after day, and you'll see what happens, rusty gun, no matter how much you wipe it. Kydex is the greatest thing to come to the holster industry for real world gun carry, hands down. Face it, if you have a pretty gun that your worried about getting beat up, you dont want to carry it, in any holster. Now if its a BBQ gun thats just for show, by all means, blue, wood, and leather. Glocks are to ugly for the light of day. :)

Have toyed with plastic liner for leather holster.
Needs work but shows promise. Good retention, fast out n easy to clean inside. Lot of trouble to make tho.

IMO, I dont mind seeing a Glock in a nice leather holster. At least there's something pretty to look at...

It doesnt bother me a bit, either way.

My $.02 .....

I have a brown leather holster for my Glock. The black gun / black holster thing looks a tad "tactical" to me. The black Glock in the brown holster on a brown leather belt has charecter.

One good or bad choice does not demand another....and I'll leave that as vague as possible.

If you don't care about your gun's looks, then why would it matter. Should a carry piece be a safe queen? I've got kydex, nylon, and soon I'll get a leather holster for my colt. I didn't buy it to worry about the way it looks, I just want to shoot it.

I bought the gun that fit me and my hand well, it just happened to be plastic. Plastic is not better or worse than steel or aluminum, it is instead just another material to make something out of.

That being said, when I go someday to buy a holster for it, I will purchase what is good for me and my gun, whatever that material may be.

While I do appreciate beauty in machinery and other things, I tend to be more of a practical person. If something fits you and works well, then what is wrong with it?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - - -

- - As always. :)

I can see natedog's point, as an aesthetic thing. Don't know I'd feel so strongly about it as to let it "get my goat." I have my own ideas of what looks "Right" and "Wrong," certainly.

I kinda cringe at seeing a deputy in nice slacks, starched shirt, good tie, shined boots, carrying a $600 pistol in an eleven-dollar nylon holster.

I have this personal thing - - If I'm wearing tan boots, tan belt, I just hate to wear my weaponry in a black holster and mag pouch. I have black leather, and tan/brown leather, and at least TRY to dress neatly.

I have a couple of plastic/Kydex holsters, and I have to admit, they sort of go "outside" the color coordination consideration, especially on the rare occasion when I wear a Glock or a stainless pistol.

I rubbed quite a bit of blue off a couple of spots on an old Commander, wearing it in a Fobus holster. When the old piece went into semi retirement, it was replaced by a newer one o' the same, which currently wears ivory stocks. I have decided to wear it in leather only.

Best,
Johnny
