My newest holster uses a mix of cowhide and horsehide sewn together for moisture resistance. Some of the sewing is held against my skin where it creates an itchy feeling. Is there something I can add to the threads that will smooth them out against my skin and prevent wear of the threads? I am thinking of spray adhesive but want to be sure I don't ruin the leather.

I use a candle and rub it on the stitches until you see it build up and then take a hair dryer to warm up the wax and melt it into the thread. Don't go overboard on the heat or you can damage the leather. I would not use any kind of spray treatment. Another trick is to buy some moleskin (sold in the foot care products in a drugstore) and cut a piece to cover the thread that is annoying your skin. It has a peel and stick adhesive but it IS removable.

The peel and stick thing is about all you can do. The stitching should have been sunk into the leather better.

I eventually ended up using a weather proofing spray by Kiwi. The spray softened up the thread fibers and smoothed them out against my skin. Quite a bit more comfortable for now.
