Will a Lee "powder through expander die" work in the second station of a
Dillon 550B and allow the powder to drop? Or do I need to go with the Dillon set-up only and not use the Lee die that comes in the set?

Thinking of reloading 9mm and trying to minimize costs.

I have loaded 9mm on all of the Dillon's except the 550 but have never used their powder die. The

Dillon measure will not work with the Lee die, as designed.

You could use the Lee die but would have to dump the powder charges manually, I guess you could do this holding the dillon measure above the Lee die but I would spurge and get the Dillon die myself, it's only $16 and would be much faster.

I run lee 9 mm dies my my 550 with the exception of station 2. Dillon's powder dispenser is awesome, I wouldn't think of using anything else.

I load a few calibers with Lee dies on a 550. Because the Dillon powder measure won't work with it, I have a Lee Pro Powder Measure I use with the Lee powder through expander die. It works just fine.

My guess is that you could use the Lee expander AND a Lee powder measure, be it the traditional Pro Auto Disc or the Adjustable Charge Bar. A Lee expander+Dillon powder measure won't work.

The die isn't, but the expanding funnel is. I'm getting the nomenclature wrong... I need to look at my Dillon manual.. But...
I use the Lee dies in mine, and just drop in the proper expander/funnel from Dillon.. Works great!

The expander/powder funnel comes as part of the conversion.

A pistol one looks like the part on the right.

It comes as part of a conversion kit. What you don't get is the die itself. The threaded portion that adjusts the funnel expander and the powder measure locks to. It is the same part the the powder check die uses too.
