Lee carbide resizing die scratching

I have sharpened C-2 and C-3 carbide router bits easily with 200-400 grit 'auto'/wet-dry' sandpaper.

I used carbide saw blades and router bits and carbide end mills and I'd sure like to see the sharpening done with wet or dry sandpaper on any of these. Sorry, I just can't fathom it. Not calling you a lier but just can't believe it either.

When carbide handgun sizers came into the market they were lauded as "no need to lube." That was true enough at the time but the time was before tumbling/polishing became such a fad. The "smoke" on cases, and even a little tarnish, served to reduce galling but now most everyone is tumblin' cases squeeky clean so galling occurs...sometimes QUICKLY! So, understanding the problem and lubing a little is the solution. Or even better, revert to just wiping cases off and re-using them as they are.

Or if "squeeky clean" is truly creating a galling problem, and you insist on bright, shiny brass, tumble them after sizing.

Carbide is tough to do anything with using a grinder, much less sandpaper. I tumble my brass first. I use a little polish and it leaves enough residue that no lube is needed. If you do lube cases using carbide dies be careful not to through your shoulder out the first time. There is almost no resistance.

Wet/dry paper is a versatile tool if you lay it on a piece of thick glass plate or block of metal. I used it to fit a rear sight in this manner since I did not have a good set of stones or fine file handy.

Carbide is harder than sand though.
