I usually load 5 or 6 rounds in my mag. The other day I loaded 9 or 10 and shot a hog and had a hard time ejecting the empty round. I shot it prior to hunting season and it worked fine. I just got through cleaning it and lubed it too. The problem still persists if I load a full mag, but is less noticable when I only load 5.

I have shot this rifle quite a bit and have loaded the mag fully with no problems whatsoever before this problem arose. I am beginning to think that I may have got the wrong mag. with a heavier spring (causing more drag on the rim of the spent ctg. over the ones loaded in the mag.)

Could anything else be causing this problem of increased drag? Chamber is fine, bolt head appears fine too.

It could also possibly be the magazine lips. If you have more than one magazine for it, the mag in it could be riding high and causing drag.

Is the case hard to pull from the chamber, or does the cartridge not want to clear the reciever? The case head rubs the left inside of the bridge, and on extracting, there is nothing from the magazine pushing against the the case head. Check the inside of the reciever wher the extractor screw is and make sure it is smooth, and that the ejector screw is contacting the case head.

Primary extraction of the cartridge case happens during bolt lift, meaning raising the bolt handle fully upward should break the grip of the cartridge case from the chamber walls and move the fired case approximately 1/8 of an inch to the rear.

Question #1. Is your bolt hard to lift during primary extraction?

Ejection of the case is controlled by the extractor and extractor spring pushing the rim of the case against the inside of the receiver. Ejection force controls how smartly the case will be thrown from the rifle (bolt movement speed = how far the case will be thrown)

Question #2. Do fired cases exit smartly from the reciever when pulling the bolt to the rear?

Question #3. Did you while cleaning your Enfield rifle remove the sear-magizine spring and have it misinstalled?

Question #4. Did you remove the extractor spring while cleaning your Enfield rifle, and could it be installed incorectly?

Question #5. Could excess oil be getting on the cartridge cases before cambering, this could cause excess bolt thrust causing the bolt to be hard to open.

Question #6. Were any spare Enfield parts in arms reach when you were cleaning, magazines, magazine parts, bolt parts, etc.

Question #7. Did the Hog die of .303 bullet wounds, and can you tell me is a pigs arse pork?

Thank's for all responses. I will try another magazine as I may have inadvertentely used the wrong one. I changed no parts except I installed a no 1 bolt head several years ago, but this problem just appeared the other day. The bolt handle lifts up easily, it just that there is a lot of friction in pulling the bolt rearward. I will check the ejector, but I need to know what to look for. I did not remove the magazine sear spring while cleaning.

I will get back to ya'll tonight when I have time to check things out.
