Lee powder measure

many of the name brand measures work good,the Lee should work also,other than some saying it spills the finer grain powders sometimes,most think it throws good charges.What is it doing that doesn't work?

If it is the regular Auto Disk with silver colored aluminum base, then I would highly recommend you upgrade to the black coated Pro Auto Disk.
My Pro Auto Disk will drop within .1 gr charge-to-charge variance with most small ball/flake powders like Bullseye, Titegroup, Green Dot, WST, W231/HP-38, Universal, PowerPistol, WSF, HS-6, AutoComp, etc.

With the pistol powders I use, the Lee Pro-Disc system is very accurate and amazingly consistent.
"With the powders I use" is the key point. On the other hand, some of the larger particle/flake powders or loads not included in the disc holes I'm told are "easier" to get more accurate drops with other powder systems. I don't know of any that would adapt to the Lee powder thru die.
A#5 leaks excessively in mine WITH a new seal. That has been my only "disappointment" with the system.

With larger flake powders like Unique and Promo, I get .2 - .4+ gr variance charge-to-charge but even with the greater variance, loads are mostly still accurate.
Flattened and coated ball powders like WST, W231/HP-38, WSF, AutoComp, etc. meter very consistently in the Pro Auto Disk with about 60% of the drops right on and the rest varying by less than .1 gr.

I don't believe any other powder measure would work through the Lee Powder-Through Die and still be automatic.
You could mount some other manufacturer's measure above the die (probably on a bracket that stands above the press, but possibly could be mounted on the turret if you are handy and there is enough room) and drop powder through the bushing that came with the die originally (which screws into the die in place of the powder measure). Lee also has a plastic funnel that fits snugly in the bushing, making spillage less likely.
You could even use the Lee Dippers or individually weighed charges to drop powder into the funnel/bushing/die instead of the Auto-Disk Powder measure.
But I think that unless you stick with the Lee Auto-Disk (Standard or Pro model), you will be stepping back to a manually operated powder drop.
Sorry I could not deliver better news. On the other hand, I have found the Auto-Disk adequate in the accuracy department. I hope this helps.

I always thought of the Lee Pro Auto disk powder measure as a great measure. Mine throws accurate loads that are consistant and repeatable. That's about all I ask.

With my Pro Auto disc charges of HP 38,Bullseye, and AA#5 are very accurate and no leakage

I only load handgun rounds with HP38 and a Pro Auto Disk. I puff graphite on the base and the top of the disk before attaching the top. Tighten the brass nuts firmly, but not excessively. No leaks, and extremely consistent.

My Lee Pro disk dispenser has given me no reasons to look elsewhere. I did uopgrade from the standard dispenser to the Pro for the better wiper system and the easier powder container removal using the knurled nuts and studs rather than phillips screws.

My pro is very consistent with red dot and HP-38 as long as I keep the charges above 3.5 grains or so. It takes a while to "take a set" but once it does it doesn't vary more than .1-.2 grains max, and that's rare. Usally it's dead on. I still weigh about every 10th throw or so.
