My single stage Lee press finally broke. 15 years old. The metal just gave up and ripped. Guess i need to accelerate my plans to buy a new press.

Little JB Weld and Duct tape I can fix that right up;)

OK Come on Blue Boys!:D

same thing happened to mine after about 8 years. I just ordered a new part. The new part wasn't sast aluminum, so should last longer.

You forgot the bailing wire.

From the look of the rust on the handle and linkage pin on that press, it's had a rough life. Yikes! Where is it setup at, outside somewhere?

I'd go for the Lee Classic Turret press myself. Best of both worlds.

Been there, done that.

YUP, I've been there and done that also. Even sent a little note saying it was my fault, I still got a new part in less than 10 business days! NO CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get ahold of Lee and have them send you the upgraded all steel linkage. Even if you have to pay, it won't be much and it is well worth it.

Same exact thing happened to mine. They didn't replace for free, but I bought the parts directly from Lee for right at $15 and it basically converted it into a Breechlock. It's like new again. I'm happy I guess.

If you would be interested in selling that press when you buy a new one I would take it off your hands in as-is condition if the price was right. I am looking for a press for my brother in law and his sons to learn on

I sent Lee a message and a picture - now I wait. If they send parts, cool. If they don't, i will likely apply the money to a new press instead of repairing.

I think I would have removed the rust from the parts before I snapped that picture you sent to Lee. They may get the impression you don't take care of your equipment properly.

I second the Rock Chucker suggestion!

I have a Rock Chucker that was already pretty old when I bought it used 30+ yrs. ago, and it's still working as good as new. I also have an RCBS RS2, which is an "O" frame press, but it's cast aluminum, and that press has been worked hard for a good 27 years or so. Both presses have seen a lot of bottle neck loading. I have no doubt either of those presses will out live me.

Actually, the Rock Chucker has a chunk of threaded steel missing in the same spot as on your Lee press. It was broken off when I bought it from the previous owner. From what I can tell, the previous owner must have stuck a case, and then tried to remove it by either hammering on the handle, or just brute force. I suppose I should have RCBS send out the new piece one of these days. But even now, and all these years later, it still works fine, despite the weak spot where the handle threads in.

For those of you that had theirs replaced for free, that's fantastic. I had called Lee directly and was charged for the new ones.

Lee says i have to pay for replacement parts. Now i need to decide; fix it or upgrade to a 550B.
