Another post is polling the masses regarding the use of a Lee Factory Crimp Die. One of the next two presses I am going to be getting is the Lee Classic Turret press, and it comes with a 4 hole plate. If you don't use a FCD in the 4th hole, what do you put there, or do you?
Thanks,
D

If you're using auto-indexing, you'll have to pull the handle past whatever is or isn't in the hole. For pistol, the 4-die set costs about $7 more than the 3-die. No reason not to use the FCD.

Agree with the last post 100%. Get the Deluxe Pistol Dies with the FCD.

If you only use 3 dies you just make a stroke to advance the press while you're dropping the finished round and picking up the next case.

For handgun ammo I would not be without the FCD, no matter what people say. You will never, I repeat, never have a Fail-to-feed again because of an over-diameter round--you may have an OAL that your gun doesn't like, but no bulges or crinkles.

A lot of guys say they just use 3 dies, always have and always will. More power to 'em. I'm quite happy using the FCD--if it's a crutch, so be it. Rather walk than limp around with 2-3-4 or more rounds per 100 that won't chamber.

I have the Lee Turret in three hole without auto index. I use Rifle to keep the dies ready to use I.e. little set up time. LOVE IT:D But if your looking something put in that fouth hole.
It would't be a bad idea to put a RCBS powder checker die in there.
I've been thinking of getting one for my Pro 2000.

Two centes

I have a Lee turret. The turrets change out real quick. 9mm to .357 or .40 5 min.
Why buy another press?
It does single stage also. Just remove the rachet rod. 9mm to .308 5 min.
All good.
