My boss needs some fast cash and is offering up for sale her 1922 Lefever Nitro Special (12 GA.) It's not in great shape, (claims that the barrel was struck by lightning many years ago) so I was wondering what I should offer her. The area on the barrel looks like a weld splatter to me. :uhoh:

Just my opinion. That's about a $200 - $250 gun. There are a couple dozen on gunbroker, from $200 - $500. The guys trying to get over $500 for theirs (12 ga) are just smokin' dope. An excellent .410 might arguably be worth a grand to round out a collection but you'd really want to have one bad.

There is an extra set of 12 ga bbls too, for $140 and I think 16 ga will fit on the same frame. There is also a set of 16 ga bbls for sale.

Sixteen gauge Nitro Specials were built on a 20 gauge frames. They did it right back then.

A 12 gauge Nitro Special I would offer $200.00 at the most.

The Nitro Specials aren't big collector guns like the real LeFevers. They were made by Ithaca, so it's a decent gun, just not worth a ton.
