Left hand AR options and opinions for short woman with short arms

I think I read an article in AR-15 mag or Guns and Ammo about Rock River Arms lefty gun. With an adjustable stock it may work.....

Go with a lefty Stag. If nothing else, not having hot brass and some hot gasses blast out right in front of your face will be worth it.

i agree. i've owned right hand Colt AR-15 rifles since the mid 60s. i've fired hundreds of thousands of rounds through those guns. Been burned by hot brass more times than i can count. Then i found true AR-15 happiness in a Stag left hand gun. There are presently three left hand Stag guns in my safe.

My left handed Stag is the best Christmas present I ever got. My SP1 Colt hits me on the cheekbone with the mouths of ejecting cases with some brands of ammunition

I am another lefty who PREFERS a standard upper! By intent, or accident, Mr. Stoner designed an excellent lefty rifle! (Well, actually, only after the deflector was added, behind the ejection port.) Righties have been inventing such gadgets as the B.A.D. Lever to convert the original AR15 to be more rightie-friendly.

I know this puts me in the minority among lefties, but I actually dislike ambidextrous selectors; they get in my way. Obviously, this is going to be a very individual thing. I prefer the non-ambi Rock River selector with a star-shaped nub on it, which is perfect for the base knuckle of my left index finger to engage, Kyle Lamb-style.

Having said all of that, well, I prefer a Mini-14, as it is an even better lefty rifle.

I'm sort of caught in the middle on this. My gf is a reserve LEO and is looking at going direct again. She has lots of experience with firearms, but no training on ARs yet. We'll be doing that soon.

She has the same issues as the OPs friend.

She shoots pistols right handed, but is left eye dominant. So she shoots rifles and shotguns lefty. I bought an AR late last year and have had fun barbie-dolling the thing. I have been wanting to add stuff to make it more left hand friendly for her should she need it, but I'd hate for her to get used to using mine with all that and then have to use one on patrol and bee all non-combobulated should it jam or something.

Evil;

I'd find out if the department would allow her to use her own AR in that situation. Some do, my neighbor is an LEO with a smaller department near here & can do so.

Ah that's a good point.

We live in DFW so most of the depts around here have the funding to provide them, but we'll definitely check into that.
