So we all know John Browning was a lefty, that is why he put the mag release on the left side of the 1911 and made it easier for the lefty to get to:D

Have been shooting autos for a very long time and never really paid any atention to the - other handgun. Well I just picked up a S&W M66 and would like some advise regarding the reload cycle of this fine wheel gun. I picked up some HKS speed loaders and just not sure of the best way to proceed. Any tips from the lefty revovler shooters would be appreciated. What works best for you?

Thanks,

I just switch hands. I would like to see one of those charter arms south paws just to see how it feels to have the cylinder swing out on the right side.

Hello. Here is what I do - with the left index finger push the cylinder latch while pushing the cylinder out with your right thumb. Continue the movement until you grip the front portion of the frame with your thumb and middle finger and press the ejector rod with your right index finger. Reload with your left arm and close the cylinder with the left index finger while gripping the gun. This method works very well for me.

Best, Boris

sinister revolvers

Well i have a Froggie 1892 ordonnance revolver. you pull back on a gate, rotating down like a reichs revolver or some of the other late 19th century european martial revolvers, but then the cylinder snaps out to the right. very interesting. it was known for being very rugged but in a weak caliber, (like most continental european martial sidearms of the time)

as for my reloads with a normal wheelgun, im two handed like Mizar also.

Righties often hold the sixgun in the left hand while reloading, so lefties should not feel bad about holding the sixgun in the right hand while reloading. Either way, the most dextrous hand is then handling the speedloader, other reloading device, or loose rounds.

As for myself, I hold smaller revolvers in my right hand while reloading, and larger ones in my left, by habit, though I can do it the other way with either size. FWIW, I try to be totally ambidextrous with revolvers, and tend to shoot SA better as a lefty, and DA better with the right.
