Napoleon had a large bore, swamp-barrel LePage with rifled barrel which he gave to his doctor on Elba. This LePage replica is so user friendly that most shooters can hit a soft drink can with the end facing from 25 yards. ... a lot of the time, at least.

I had a Le Page flintlock for a while too but never did get very consistent with it. The Percussion gun though is extremely easy to shoot. It has a double phase single set trigger which allows a very light trigger pull. Out of the box, the adjustment screw tended to back out keeping it from staying cocked. Blue loctite fixed that.
It uses a .433-inch patched ball that weighs 124 grains. For best accuracy, using black powder it is best to wipe the barrel after every two shots. H777 doesn't produce fouling buildup so, it became my favorite powder for this pistol A 38 S&W (not special) case holds 15 grains of goex fffg and I used that volume with the H777.
H777 15 grains equivalent 964 fps 98 fps spread
20 grains Swiss 1005 fps 62 fps spread
20 grains goex fffg 868 fps 102 fps spread
20 grains pyrodex p 949 fps 110 fps spread
In spite of the large variations with goex and Pyrodex I don't remember any marked decline in accuracy.
In recent years with the exchange rate being what it is and the dollar reacing fiat status, these things have gotten pretty expensive.

actually I was surprised when using the hook actually steadied things up for me considerably. Might be the reverse for somebody else.

Hard to tell in the second photo, but is that the rear sight on the tang next to the hammer?

Nice shooting

that's it right in front of the dark part of the hammer. it's adjustable for windage and elevation

I like that, great aid in sighting the pistol. I think i'll do that on my next pistol build.

I've looked at that pistol on Pedersoli's website, they're running about $650 aren't they? not a bad price for a pistol that looks that good and shoots well.

That's not a bad price. I thought they were a couple of hundred higher but I might have mixed it up with a delux model. The Le Page Flintlock is more expensive. I had high hopes for it but could never get the ignition consistent enough to shoot it well enough to enjoy the process so, I passed it along. My much cheaper .54 Pedersoli "Kentucky" pistols has much better ignition .

Pedersoli is one of the preferred line pistols and they have a very nice set trigger.

I have always lusted for a LePage.

I 1st bought a pair of Kentucky's and did a trigger job on them, they are nice pistols.

I learned that Charles Moore pistols can be used in the Kentucky Agg. and bought a pair.

The Kentucky pair are back ups to the Charles Moore pair which are back ups to my unlimited pair.

If I ever find a LePage at a decent price I am going to get one.
