Took my "new to me" pistols to range yesterday. My buddy shot a few magazines through the Barer. That gun will shoot. At an estimated 12 yds, he shot the diamond out of a rifle target we were using to zero deer rifles. With the 38 Super he kept the group around the diamond with one flyer. The Baer group was around an inch with most of the rounds touching. The 38 group was about 11/2" except for flyer". Mine was two to the chest. I still need work on the head shot for both pistols. That said I am pleased with the accuracy. The Baer is impressive. The Colt is a pleasant surprise. Going to convert the Super Series 80 to 70 and smooth the trigger a bit. I think the Baer trigger is too sensitive for regular carry.

Would love a Les Baer 1911 but I'm on more of a Colt budget. Good to see both are working fine for you.

I thought the Baer was less expensive than a Series 70 Colt Gold Cup. I Have10mm and 45ACP Gold Cups. I think I like the Baer better.
Glad to hear the good news. :) I think you got a real bargain in that gun. Good shooting.
Tark, do you remember what the Baer sold for in the 1994 time frame. I was guessing about 400 more than a National Match Gold Cup.

You're right on about Baer accuracy my PII is my favorite range gun. I do my own reloading and this particular Baer was a Bear to rack the slide on when new.

Now it is nice and easy to rack and the bushing comes out with ease. The slide to frame fit is still tight and lockup is great, I love it.

I'll have to dig through my old cats and price sheets. I'll get back to you tomorrow, but $1,000 to $1,200 seems to stick in my head. Might have been a bit more.

I feel the same way about the unfired, nickled "C" engraved Series 70 Colt I got last year for 2600. I am so proud of that pistol. The frustrating thing is none of my heirs care or are interested. Too bad for them. Did'nt come with the box but did have display case and it lettered.
