My father passed away a year ago. He had a box of Remington 22lr Target. They were waxed lead in a clear yellow hard plastic box. Went to the indoor range yesterday with a 357, 38, 9mm, 32 and a couple 22lr. I preloaded my 7 22 magazines with these older bullets. My Walter shot one then failed to got to battery. I had to use my Leatherman Squirt to get it out. Again same issue. Ruger MKII same problem. Upon closer inspection it look like the driving bands on the bullets were oxidized - light gray and rough. I ended up throwing them all away. Luckily I had a hand full of Remington Golden bullets and a box of Blazers. I think I'm sticking with bronze/copper washed 22's from now on, especially for long term storage.

I had forgot how much fun 22's were and the Ruger with it's 7.5" bull barrel is awesome at 25yds.

I can't remember the last I went to the range and didn't take at least one or two .22s with me. Great, inexpensive fun, whether you're just plinking or target shooting. Enjoy.
