Their Facrbook page is filled with complaints and vows to boycott the stores. In the last 24 hours, there have been about 70 posts. There should be many more. Think how many people whose business they’ve lost didn’t bother to post.

Take a minute to tell them how you feel. Make them feel the pressure.

Er...cliff's notes for those of us not in the loop? I think I'd heard they were gonna quit carrying guns in CT, or maybe just ARs, or....???

DISCLAIMER: My grandfather and Dick Stack were good friends. The store now is nothing like what Dick started.

Having said that, Dicks the store can do whatever they please, and I have simply made a decision that they don't need/want my business. However I do agree that they should have -at minimum- honored the orders already in the pipeline and that they should be in some legal trouble for that decision.

...First off, I must say that my initial mental image upon reading the thread title is probably not what the OP had intended.

That aside, yeah, I guess I wouldn't mind posting a comment or two.

A voice from the public (their customers) is appropriate. They can do what they want, but they also need to know what their customers want. Capitalism isnt just a business deciding and consumers following.

Here is the link to the Washington Post article, there are also several others out there.

Basically, Dicks decided to pull their modern sport rifles (such as the Remington R-15) from the shelves in all of their stores for a "period of mourning" after the Sandy Hook incident. They also removed all guns from the shelves in the store closest to the school. They have not said how long they will continue not selling them.

Here's the deal: can they as the store, do what they want? absolutely. But we consumers can too. Basically, they said they understand that some people are ignorant about guns and gun rights, and in order to appease them, they are making a gesture of "good will" and stopping the sale of certian rifles. While they are within their rights to do so, they have insulted not only gun owners and potential customers; but have said they think the 2A may not be so important after all.

I will never walk into a Dick's again as long as I live because of this ridiculous response. I have bought several guns, boxes of ammo, and other accessories over the years at my local Dick's. Losing my business won't put them out of business; but if enough of us respond we can destroy them. I would love to see the Dick's company starve to death and die because of this. I hope they never sell another gun to anyone, period.

The republic was not founded by cowards, and cowards will not preserve it.

Well. I for one had purchased 4 items prior to the incident.....and was back there on the 27th returning them and my Score Card....done with Dick's and Lower Than Dirt...I'll support my local stores like I should be doing to begin with.....Geeezzzzz.

Just sent them an email requesting my scorecard to be cancelled. Explained why they will no longer be getting my business.
