Let's hear about those large folders

The Buck 110 was largely if not entirely responsible for the phrase "buck knife" being synonymous with "quality knife" for me until at least my late teens (around 1990). I am sure that is true for a lot of people from that era.
I know for us it had become the "assault weapon" terminology for a perceived overly or excessively large folder.

Spoken breathlessly and in great agitation:

"... and, he had a BUCK knife too!"

Coulda been anything but saying Buck added drama.

For my part, quality? Yup, but over fat, over heavy and over square. One can imagine my brothers being drivers of trucks and riders of Harleys revealed in their belt pouches... Me? Not so much.

Yep it was true , I seen the Buck man cut the threads off a bolt and the slice up a tomato as pretty as you please. When a man had a Buck he had a real Knife.

The raja II carries surprising well.

Wife gifts me one that I wouldn't buy for myself.

It's that old and irrational story of:

I'm not gonna pay that... Why, I remember when those used to be &?.??... And besides - YOU KIDS STAY OFFA MY LAWN!

I always wanted one of these Colonial survival knives but I have that image of buckets of them for 5 bucks (a fin, not the knife;)) each in the pawn shops outside of Fort Bragg, NC.

The hell if I'm going to pay any given going price for one - of course, they only go UP and I keep not having one.

So anyhow, I get this one from my gal who has bought it apparently inexpensively. She and the seller thought it was a rather novelty and oversized "dealer's sample" knife rather than a Colonial Aircrew knife.

No pouch but hey, at least I got the version with the bail.

Putting it next to a "too big for my pocket" Buck 110 really gives it perspective.

Todd.

I have carried a Buck 110 for many years on my belt. I have never broken a Buck 110. I have used and abused the Buck 110. The only issue I have had with the Buck 110 is several police officers have confiscated my knife for my own good. Not much you can do when you are out of state on some back road in the middle of the night.

I carried a buck 110 in high school on my belt until my senior year. They told us no more knives at school.

I have buck 110's- Camillus Dominators and a large Sebenza I like them all.

The largest folder I ever had was a REKAT SIFU blade was 5.45 and handle was 6 inches.. it was a surprisingly usable knife but I sold it... I do not have pictures but if ya like big folders look it up.
