Last years and this season's go to rifle-

CZ550 Safari Magnum, hogs back stock
458 WM, loaded to 3.600" oal
450gn TSX
.458" diameter bullet
2315 fps, chrono 10' from muzzle
5354 ft lbs energy
58.42 ft lbs recoil

This load shoots easily under 1-1/2 inch at 100 yds from the bench. Twenty rounds off the bench is my max. Puts a smile on my face every time I pull the trigger. The only gun I own with a name "The Big Dog".

I have a friend with a 4" black powder cannon .... just for fun I put in the numbers ......

4" black powder cannon

5 lb (35,000 grain poured concrete projectile)
4.00" diameter
+/- 800 fps
56,140 is the energy

But I can't submit that as a "mine is bigger than yours" entry, because I don't own it ..... and there is no way in hell I am going to put my chronograph in front of it! ;)

45-120 sharps
.512
500 gr lead Lyman moulded
100grains of Swiss 3 BP..

Mine's almost the same...
.45-120 Sharps
550 grain LRN, from Saeco mold; (.460 bullet)
120 grains Goex 1F, compressed .620 from the case mouth;
.030 overpowder and sealer wads
.120 grease cookie (SPG)
Norma cases.

Will chrono at first opportunity--but it sure do thump!!

Not just yet.

I have the template for patching, but haven't gotten around to getting the proper paper and actually taking the plunge. I have to buy another mold, too--and the ones I'm looking at (RCBS, casts a plain, hollow base lead bullet at about .440 in diameter) are pricey--about $110.00 each.

What kind of Sharps do you have? I have a C. Sharps Bridgeport Sporting Rifle--with a few custom touches. :D

I'm sorry. The calculator locked up when I entered the values from my 20mm cannon. :neener: :D
