I have a question. How is a shovel an accessory to a pistol?

A shovel is required for the "I have a .45 and a shovel..." speech that one gives to young men that arrive in the early evening to take your daughters out on a date. This is a reference to the move Clueless

The implication being that the shovel will be used to bury the body.
