Leupold 2x7 compact on my RRA carbine or S&W MP 15-22? What scope to buy the other?

I have a Rock River Arms entry 16" carbine. It has troy flip up rear sight, A2 front post, and Leupold Vari-X 2-7x compact on quick detach rings.

I just purchased a Smith and Wesson MP 15-22 carbine that needs a scope.

I'm trying to figure out which gun to the put the leupold compact on. And once that is decided- what scope to put on the other gun.

I could run the Leupold on the .22LR and get a AR specific scope (Leupold or Nikon I'm thinking), or keep the Leupold on the RRA and get the new Nikon P-22 (.22LR AR specific scope).

The RRA is shot at the range from 50-200yards, mostly benched but some standing. The S&W is a plinker for all kinds of shooting. I plan to shoot the .22 a lot more, but the RRA is the go-to defense rifle.

Thoughts?

I really like a 2-7. If it has worked well for you, get another. If not, get something that will. My Leupold VX-R 2-7 is great for my purposes.

I really like it- it's a 2-7x28. It's now in their "ultralight" range. To buy another will be $308! I guess I should mention if I was to put a new scope on the .22lr, the Nikon P-22 is only $179.

That's the way I'm currently leaning, and keep the 2x7 on the .223. Actually, the P-22 is a 2-7x32. http://www.nikonhunting.com/products/riflescopes/p-22
