Which would you pick for the same money? The Optika 6 would be a demo model though. How about a demo Optika 5 2x10x42 for a hundred less than the Leupold (or new one for 70 less)?

Not real important but in a lot of ways I'd rather have a 2X10 or 1.5x9. Gun is a short rifle with 20" heavy contour barrel in .308. Has one MOA or better guarantee. I'd have to travel 60 miles one way to get to a 300 yard range so most of time it will be no more than a 100 yards. Not a hunter yet but I'm in south Florida and I can't see ranges being very long.

Feel free to suggest some other choices.

Wait for the smart guys to show up… I like both. What ‘looks‘ better on your rifle? Slightly better exit pupil on the Leupold, otherwise, flip a coin….

Leupold will probably be significantly lighter in weight, Meopta will probably have better glass (but the leupold will be no slouch).

You don’t want a 15X scope on a mid range rifle, especially a second focal plane 15X. Even when shooting at 600y I personally find the heat mirage too much at higher power.

I’d go with that Leupold.

I just bought the on sale 5 2x10x42 $299 at EuroOptics Great glass but I should have stepped up $50 and got the side parallax model or the 6 series which has it. I have the Leupold mentioned on another gun I hunt with . not quite as brite glass but if any thing goes wrong or it's damaged I get another one and they might be tougher built than the Meopta .

I'd go for the $100 more and get this one : - Like New Meopta Optika6 2.5-15x44mm BDC 30mm SFP Riflescope 653616 = $399 A great deal !

The 6 is just so much heavier, twice what the Leupold weighs. My rifle weighs a lot already (Steyr Pro THB). But I am thinking about it.

A Burris Fullfield E1 (3X9X40mm) came with the gun in a package deal. Torn between at least trying it or selling it.

Gordon, why the desire for the side parallax model? Link for the 6 model isn't working for me. I could only find it as a demo for the $400 price mark.

Heavy is good for target or varmint.
Hunting.........well the Steyr PH is already a tank.
The 1" tube does look a little odd on such a fat receiver IMHO.

Have the 3.5-10X VX3i on a 30-06.
Might upgrade to the 30mm firedot model.
But I rarely shoot the thing, and its zeroed, shoots well.
I just leave it in the safe.
Weather that bad, I aint huntin with it.
Not unless I KNEW a bruiser buck was around.
Im sloooooowly getting smarter in my old age.

Because I am putting the Meopta on an Anshutz .22 and it has fixed 100 yard paralax vesus 10meters to infinity for $339 on the Me5 2-10x42 1" one .

Just to let you guys know, I bought the Meopta Optika 6 2.5 X 15 X 44mm with BDC reticle. Just arrived minutes ago. Initial impression is it is big and heavy. Too dark outside to say much. However I can focus on objects that I can't see with my naked eye because it is too dark. Bodes well for low light usage. It will be next weekend at soonest before it hits the range and it will only be 100 yards.

At the cost of premium .308 target ammo I'm thinking it makes sense to buy some type of laser bore sight tool. If It saves me 3-4 rounds over looking through the barrel it should pay for itself. Care to recommend one? All I have close by is Bass Pro and I have to get rings anyway.

FWIW, The Meopta Optika 6 2.5 X 15 X 44mm with BDC reticle didn't work out. A few things concerned me. The windage and elevation turrets were bottomed out (all the way down and left). I emailed the manufacturer to ask if that was how they shipped them. They didn't respond. That didn't leave me feeling good about warranty support if I needed it. The scope was bright but I didn't feel the resolution was that good.

I returned the scope (still waiting on refund) and bought the Trijicon TenMile. It just arrived minutes ago and I already feel much better with the choice. Great packaging, lots of nice extras, sealed box, and the glass exceeded my expectations (although too early to really judge it). Very much looking forward to getting it mounted and going shooting. The model 3000005 is being offered at a very attractive price IMHO. For under $700 it is well worth a look IMHO.

Looks like things worked out for you. The Tenmile is a heck of a scope. Yeah, of the two choices you presented, my rec would have been neither.

It’s 3.5-10x40, 2.5-15x44, etc. Not 3.5x10x44. The first two numbers (I.e. 3.5-10x) is the magnification range, with the last number (I.e. 40) being the objective lens diameter in units of mm. I don’t know why so many people get this wrong but it’s a pet peeve of mine.

I don’t like the light color through most any Leupold scope - even the HD models have a yellowish cast that I find unappealing to my eyes.

I use the Leupold 3.5x10x40 and am completely satisfied. Not familiar with the Optika so I can't comment on that choice. From the responses, I think you are in win-vs-win territory.

Ive got a 3.5-10X VX3i on a .30-06.
The rifle may get sold, but I'll be keeping the scope.
Just a good all arounder for me

Might put it on my CZ457, replace the VX1 3-9X
