I just put a folding stock on my .45 Camp Carbine, and I'd like to mount a light to the stock to avoid it messing up my sight-in. Do I just get a piece of Weaver rail, or is there a better solution?

If I go with the rail, do you have a vendor recommendation?

Thanks!

Michael

yankee hill sells inexpensive polymer mil 1913 rails.

make sure you put a good light on it. in .45 ACP you might not need the battery stop, but a 6 P with a shock isolated bezel would worl nicely.

Michael,

A question for you about the Choate stock:

If you shoulder it on your left side, do you think your nose would bump the hinge when you shoot it? I have a Camp 45 and was thinking about getting a Choate folder.

Thanks.

Dave,

I'm not much of a lefty shooter, but with a solid cheek weld, the hinge is well celar of my Schnozz. It's ok for me, but not sure about anybody else! Mine nose is fairly healthy so I'd say most folks would be ok, but Jamie Farr might have a problem.

Hope this helps, I really like the Choate folder, it makes the little carbine a lot handier for transport and handling. It locks up tight and gives a decent cheek weld.

Man, is it good to see some other folks own the M45. I keep mine around for home defense and am dying to find a lighting system that works.

How do you like that folding stock? Last I talked with Choate, they weren't selling them to civilians, though this was before the sunset.

Is the stock sturdy? Hinge solid? LOP the same or longer than the wood stock? Good cheek weld? Balance? What about sling mounts?

I was thinking about buying one just to try and fabricate a mount that would allow me to attach an AR15 collapsing stock.

Let me know what you decide on the lighting issue. I'm keeping my eyes out for possibilities.

I really like it, I waited for 3 years for the ban to sunset to put this on. The stock appears pretty sturdy, and the hinge locks up tight. I think the LOP is a bit shorter than the wood stock, but that may just be me, I didn't measure either. Only aggravating thing was getting the rear stock screw in, you have to have a special allen wrench (mine came with one).

I'd like to see someone come out with a collapsible stock too, but in my mind, the folder makes it even handier, it's really not much bigger than a pistol to carry.
