I am late to the posting. I will make a comment of two anyway. with the original spring I would have tried a washer added to the end of the spring to increase the tension. I would also have checked the sides of the hammer for scrape marks indicating a need to shim the hammer away from the side where the hammer would be dragging on the frame. You can buy shims from Brownell's in various thicknesses. A polish of the hammer strut to make sure your not getting drag on the spring. CCI ammo has a bit thinner rim which helps with this issue as well.
