Liquid Fuel

years ago as a young and dumb kid I built a potato gun with an electric igniter and experimented with different propellants for it, needless to say I eventually found a gas mixture that when I hit the button blew the potato gun up the only thing let was where my hands were holding the barrel and igniter handle, that and several pieces embedded, [thankfully not deep] in my skin, I learned a lot of respect that day for things that go boom, use the long string.

"Hold my beer and watch this!!"

Seriously, this is solving a problem that doesn't exist. I don't want a liquid propellant, even if it works the same. Messy to clean up spills, to say nothing of the residue it would likely leave in an action. Unburnt liquid propellant goo on the barrel and in the action sounds like a bigger mess than powder residue.

For it to be appealing, it would have to be much, much cheaper than standard powder, and that's not leaving enough profit margin to make it worth commercial development.

This doesn't sound like any sort of professional scientific process. I predict this will end the same way as BillyRayJimbob's meth lab, and I'd get as far away from it as possible. At the least, it sounds like the "science" is on the same level.

We have lit small amount of our liquid propellant. It does burn very similarly to smokeless powder. It seems to burn like one of the slower pistol powders. it does have an unusual odor though. We hope it ain't toxic.

One thing that wll not be possible with this stuff is compressed loads. You can't compress liquids. However, it meters and weighs almost flawlessly. Using Lee Dippers, you throw the exact same measurement everytime.

I know I said this before, but please, please make sure and get his on very clear video. Having great audio would be a bonus. Don't use your phone camera, something with a really good framerate... you know, for posterity :)

Use a remote method, there is no benefit and only negative consequences for having an ape with opposable thumbs pull the trigger. :neener:

But seriously, good luck, sounds interesting.

I figure the military/gov has already been down this road for development and prob stopped for a reason.....that being said do what your doin :D

btw, Im adding a new phrase to my list. "we hope it aint toxic"

"This will make one heck of a YouTube video! "

Yes. May well be a contender for the 2011 Darwin Awards.

Me thinks this is all "Much ado about nothing, my friends"

But I too wait with baited breath ... LOL ... NOT!

(I'll bet lizziedog1 is ROFL his/her butt off at some of these responses)

Please tell us all that this was just your April-Fool's joke.

April Fools!

If not, then I would demand a string and a huge tree to stand behind while my friends do whatever they want however close they want. Remember, though, if something terrible should happen, you are going to be questioned by the investigator along with your friends - hey, it may even be the ATF who comes knocking at your door.

Perfect Timing!

April 1st is the same day I am planning a manned landing on the Sun. Don't worry about us burning up, we're gonna land at night.

I think if you bust the head off a strike anywhere match jamb it in the primer pockett wit some goop and pucky don't use deisel to much smoke. And I also reccomend using like a 300 win mag or a 338 just to start off. and for God sake GET VIDEO!!

I'll save you some trouble.Use nitro glycerine and pull the trigger yourself.Make sure you leave me in your will.
