Loaded a couple of 7.62x39 with 2400.

I was looking through my Hodgdon # 26 book. It has a load for 123 grain. I loaded them with 17 grains of 2400. I only loaded 2. I found 2 casings i had on hand. I have 2 AR 7.62x39 uppers. Not sure if it will cycle or not. My 16 inch has a carbine length gas system. My 18 inch has a mid length. What one would be best for testing? I like that book it has other powders besides their brands.

Kind of depends on how the gas ports are sized. There is more pressure at the carbine port due to it being closer. Normally the longer gas systems run better. But if the ports are sized right for the pressure it does not really matter.

It works in both rifles. Im happy the savings on powder will add up.

Accurate 1680 is what I use for my Colt 20 inch upper.

25.5 gr with brass cases and Hornady SST, SP, or FMJ.
