Thanks to the ATF ruling on pistol braces, I have 3 tax free form 1 approvals on the way.
While I was at the Kiosk last month, I took advantage of the opportunity to get my first suppressor. Form 4, about 9 month to 1 year wait or more....but on the way someday, whenever that may be....

The first firearms that came to mind to suppress were my 10mms...... since I have an AR platform carbine in 10mm as well as multiple 10mm pistols, this was the first chambering that came to mind.
So Obsidian 45 can it is....

In preparation, I'm thinking about the loads I'd like to work up suppressed.
My current loads pushing 180grainers about 1,400 fps are going to be far too much.

I've been looking at 200 or even 220 grainers that look like they would be interesting. What is the sound threshold again for Subsonic? At about 950ft above sea level here.....
Any thoughts?

Will take a heavy bullet and a fast powder. Something like a 200gr bullet, with TiteGroup or N320 type powders.
Generally you want to be right at a 1000fps or below to be subsonic. Hodgdon is showing minimum loads with TG and a 200 to be hovering right around 950fps. VV is about the same. All the data is on the appropriate websites.

The speed of sounds changes with temperature and humidity, even when altitude is constant. jbmballistics.com will calculate the speed of sound for you if you input your shooting conditions.

I know, but thought at least I'd state my fixed variable. Thanks for the tip.

At the moment I'm thinking of trying Xtremes 220 grain bullets and run them w/ BE-86

I am using SNS coated 220 gr TCFP with Alliant Sport Pistol..............Getting around 930-960 fps depending on the charge ...
Substantially quiet out of CMMG Banshee 8" barreled ( now SBR) with SiCo Octane 45...
I have also used some 220 gr plated from RMR with similar good results. (They weren't RMR brand, just sold by jake and Co.)
