I know this has been discussed before and I probably had a thread on it, but if I recall it was for the 125 gr bullet.

The CZ 75 has a real short chamber and I thought the 115 Para was supposed to fit better. With the 125 gr bullet it needs to be seated at about 1.080 to drop in and out of the barrel.

I ordered the 115 paras and was just setting up the dies and find that I have to seat them to the same OAL of 1.078 to 1.080 to pass the drop in the barrel test.

Just wanted to confirm that this is what others have found?

Using a start load of either Bullseye, HP 38 or Win Auto Comp.

Thanks

I load the MBC 125gr SmallBall for my CZs at 1.075 and it works fine. I vacillate between using Zip and Red Dot (depending on whichever I can buy at the moment), and I generally load soft.

Thanks. I have the 125's also and that was what I was loading them at also. I just got a bit befuddled when the 115's had to be the same OAL as they are a bit more tapered in the nose.

Could it be that the 115 gr and 125 gr bullets have similar nose profile but different bullet base lengths?

I don't have 115 gr bullet to compare to my 125 gr bullet, but the pictures on MBC website looks to be the case.

If that's the case, you would load the 115 gr to the same OAL as the 125 gr.

When dealing with short leade chambers like the CZ has, you can't look at the bullet and really tell much of anything. Each bullet has to go through something like the chambering test to find what's right for that particular bullet-barrel interface.

I hope you keep a reloading notebook with all these numbers.

When I spoke with Brad from MBC, I thought he said the 115 Para had a different shape and would seat better in the CZ. Maybe I was confused as usual:)

Anyway, I found the original thread dealing with the 125 bullet.

Here is a quick picture of the twp side by side. To my eye there is very little to no difference in shape. Just that the 125 is a tad longer.

I am just going to go with what fits. I slowly kept seating it and checking in the barrel until it dropped in and out. Seems the same as the 125.

The fact that the OAL (the external measurement of length) is the same for both 115 and 124gr seems to be proof that both bullets strike their limitation at the same place. Therefore one could assume that both bullets have nearly the exact same nose shape.

.....and I thought the 115 Para was supposed to fit better.

Sometimes that is true; sometimes it is not. With a CZ you simply never know until you make a test round and measure it for yourself. If you want full-length RN, then may I suggest the Berry plated bullets. Their 115, 124, 130, 135 and 147gr plated RN bullets will ALL allow loading out to 1.169" OAL in the CZ.

Well I took them out to the range today and they shot great. Tack drivers in the CZ and Browning HP Practical. They have similar barrels.

Loaded to 1.078, light taper crimp and a low charge of 4.5 Win Auto Comp.

Accurate, easy to shoot and cycled the guns no problem.

I have some of the Berrys Plated and a few thousand of the Delta Precison FMJ
Yes, they have a much sharper point and will load at "normal" lengths.
