In a sign of supplies loosing up my local walmart has a pretty decent stock of ARs. Will someone here please talk me out of dropping 1100 on a colt?

I know they had a bushmater patrol man for 950, and another brand that I didn't bother checking for 800. I am a person that 99% of the time will buy a cheaper product in an attempt to get more value for my money. But I am leaning toward a go big or go home attitude to my ar purchase.

NOVESKE it is

I've never spent 1100 on anything that wasn't a car or a house, but this is getting damn tempting.

I picked up a Colt 6920 at WalMart a couple of weeks ago...nice weapon at good price. They had over 10 ARs on hand of various makes.

In another thread I was discussing the fact that WalMart forgot to present me the 4473 to sign, then wanted me to make a 110 mile round trip to correct their mistake, but the thread was closed before I could post what happened with that fiasco.

Mine has had about 3-4 in stock for about a month. Colt and bushmaster but very little ammo. They have had 6.8 spc though.

Starting to get some adequate supply around here. Thursday the 13th Cabela's in Hammond, IN had a LOT of ammo. .223, 7.62x39, pistol ammo. A little.22 rimfire.

The .223 was decent stuff at 35 cents per. Limit 2 boxes.

I wonder who decides which guns a particular WalMart stocks. My local one has always had lots of shotguns, hunting rifles, and .22 rifles, but never even a single AR or similar.

Stopped in another more local Walmart than the one I bought my Colt at this morning while running errands- no Colts but they had Sigs and Windhams.
No ammo though:(

My local wally world had a couple of black rifles, and some cheaper Tulammo 5.56, as well as whitebox 5.56, no 22 Lr of any kind, but that's to be expected, the only pistol ammo they've got is the premium self defense type (golden saber), no cheap stuff, haven't seen a 100 round 9MM value pack in ages. It's easing up though, the local, retired "gun traders" with nothing else better to do, than make a haul at wally world, and resale at the local gun show, are starting to loose demand for their products. Everything is slowly, but surely working itself out.

Haven't seem them around here but Cabela's had racks of ARs and some Saiga 223s.

I've been seeing them for 2 or 3 months now. I've also been seeing .223 at the local Rural King and gun shops for 2 or 3 months now.

I think that the supply is coming back, but is in pockets of the market right now. Should be more widespread in 2 or 3 months.

Heck I bought one of the magpul 6920s there a few weeks ago just to celebrate.

They had 3 and I was tempted to get them all but then I realized that would just perpetuate the hysteria so I'll pick up a couple this summer gradually.

Just another possesion. You need to think it through, if it doesn't hurt you financially, then it's a good thing to have. You can always sell it for the same or more than what you paid. There will eventually be another unfortunate incident that will make the gun go up in price. Since very few things go down in price anymore. And they are fun.

If you can get your hands on the Colt6920 for the $1097 Walmart special, you should not hesitate to buy it if your budget allows.

There's been plenty of AR15's at my local Walmart for a while now. They even have the Colt6920 Socom version.

We still have nothing in ammo or ar-15s. I'm getting depressed 3-4 months of no shooting simply because I cant find any ammo. I have one full 30 round mag of ammo, oh its not even the same brand of ammo. I seen one box of .223 ammo here and it was tula (my gun will shoot tula but its just so dirty I refrain) and that box of tula was 15$ for 20 rounds!!! I like to shoot 2-3 mags of ammo to get in decent practice but I cannot afford 30-60$ just to shoot a bit. I remember when ammo was 15$ for a box of 77gr federal. or 6-10$ for 62gr TAP. So as long as this shortage is here I have a nice big expensive paper weight

Can't find ammo or don't want to pay the current market price? I've had no trouble at all finding .223/5.56 ammo recently.
Around 60 cents a round seems to be the going rate at my favorite supplier, PSA.
Have easily picked up 1000+ rounds in the last month- do I wish it costs less? Of course.

I remember when gas was 15-20 cents too....

Vamo, this is one area where going "cheaper" isn't a good idea. The Colt is a great rifle. They are dependable, and the bar on which DI guns are set. While there are better rifles, you will pay more for them. So unless you want to pay more for a Daniel Defense or so on, I'd stick with the Colt.

I picked up a Colt 6920-FDE at one of the local Wal Marts about 6 weeks ago. I had only seen ONE AR at the stores since December (was a Colt Socom for $1500.....not in the cards). It is funny, since I picked up my 6920, I have not been to Wal Mart when they did NOT have at least 2 ARs in the case.

When I got mine, the guy at the gun counter said they got 8 ARs in on Thursday, and mine was the 5th one out the door (2 days later). The selection was:

6920
6920-FDE that I bought
Bushmaster
Windham Weaponry

Since then, I have seen any combination of:

6920
6920 with the black Magpul furniture
Colt Socom
Bushmaster
Windham Weaponry
and the $2000 Sig

It is nice to see.

Please. Dont get it. Maybe the one you don't get will trickle down to my local Wally World for me to pick up:cool:

I was on the road on business back in mid-April, and I stopped by a regional wal mart in a very very rural part of my state, and almost cried when I saw the 3 Colt 6920's on sale for $1100, and me away from my bank and debit card. Made me wonder if they even noticed the panic. Probably for the better, they were the plain ones and I would rather have the Magpul edition.
