So it seems these days that the round that is best for across the course shooting is the 6mmXC with the sierra 115 gr. which has close to the same wind drift numbers as the 6.5x284 142 gr SMK with less recoil. Complicating matters are the new sevens, throwing either the 162 gr a-max, the 175 gr SMK, or the 180 gr VLD's.
For a game like the ITRC or precision rifle, I'd think the lower wind drift numbers of the 7's might be worth the major increase in recoil.
Muzzle brakes are banned from highpower but are legal in precision rifle contests, do you think that might affect the choice of caliber? What about a 300 RUM throwing a 240 gr VLD... the recoil would be pretty bad but with a brake maybe doable?
