Long range tuning

Just got back from a buddies shop ( he has a bore scope) the barrel I just took off doesn’t have a carbon ring or build up, just a bit along the lands, there is some pitting in the throat along with some fire cracking but not horrible at all.
I may have it set back.
Added . I’ve been scrubbing on this barrel for almost 2 hours with everything I’ve got and could still get traces of black on a patch. I may never get every bit of carbon out of the fire cracking.

I shot this 16 shot ladder at 500 yards on a fresh barrel today, I’m liking this lower node ( DBL) 30.4 however with only 48 rounds total on the barrel I won’t place to much stock on it until it speeds up a tad but it’s close enough for seating tests.
My pal think that 30.9 would be his choice and since he’s the WR holder I’ll go that direction.

IMG_2026.jpeg After a less than stellar seating test at 30.9, and what I mean by that is I felt the rifle was spitting rounds at varying depths and some very ODD chronograph numbers ( top left is 40 fps) I decided to reshoot my charge ladder at s seating depth very close to the original ( top left) +.008.
I had an opportunity yesterday afternoon to do just that. My high node~ 30.9 is still there but with the now 94 rounds the lower node has shifted slightly to 30.5 and reshot on sight at the red + ( still about 1/4 vertical but overall smaller at 3/4 C-C at 500 yards, now the odd part is those three shots had a 25fps ES ?
Go figure that out ..
That’s all for now, shoot small y’all

After a good cleaning and throat measuring,I set up a seating review with the new numbers.
.006 jam and .008 jam, even though the wind was a tad switchy I believe the data is decent.
IMHO the .006 jam is ready to rock.

So @JFrank what does that info tell you I am wanting to learn more about this kind of thing?
Me too’
From this ladder I could load 31.5 and order another jug of N140, ( from the gurus) nodes repeat about 3% so on this test that’s 32.4 and right where the upper overlap is. Myself being a cautious fella I’ll probably shoot on each side of 31.5 to see a repeat.

Thanks for asking.
Jim
