I have the possibliy of spending some extended time out of the country, may be 2 years. I would like to know the best method for long term storage of the guns I want to keep. These include a few bolt actions, a few levers, 2 shotguns, and about 8 handguns, both revolvers and autos.

I do not have the place to store them permanently. It must be something portable.

Send them all to me. :D

Seriously, I'd find a friend who will put them in his gunsafe for you, or store them somewhere cool and dry, and perhaps take them out and lube them now and again. This is by far the best solution. If it were only a few months, I'd simply grease them and store them: but when you're talking over a year, loving care is better.

If you're going to be storing them someplace, I'd say clean thoroughly and give them a good coat of a good CLP, something like BreakFree or Corrosion X; maybe wipe the bores with a good grease like Tetra.

Or I may be a bit confused, are you asking about a travel container for them?
