I'm going on a trip for a year and will leave most of my guns in storage somewhere. What you all recommend to protect them? I'll be leaving an AR, Romanian SKS, Yugo M48 and Mosin, among others.

How much prep time are you willing to invest? You could slather them in grease (cosmoline) then wrap in paper and they'd be fine for decades. I'd put them in airtight bags with some desiccant and worry more about where they were than how they are protected from the elements. Do you have a vacuum sealer that takes the roll style bags?

I'd leave mine with a good friend of mine. A year isn't that long, not a huge need to go with cosmoline, just heavily oil them on the outside. They may fit in a large safety deposit box, I'm not really sure how big they are but it's an idea.

True, for any sane storage conditions a year isn't very long. I have guns I haven't done anything with for a year or more and I didn't do a thing differently to them whenever they were last encountered. I'm sure they are perfectly fine (climate controlled house)
